THE BIBLE OR THE SACRED WRITINGS


The Bible is the written Word of God and thus the ultimate set of guiding principles governing all areas of life for the
people of God. Through these writings, God communicates his will, his laws, his nature, and his saving purpose to
humanity.

Sacred Writing - writing that is venerated for the worship of a deity religious text, religious writing, sacred text.
Sacred texts are central to many of the religions of the world. Not all religions have sacred texts, but those that do
usually revere the content found in the Holy text of their cultures.

Bible as Sacred Writing

The Bible is the uniquely inspired part of Sacred Tradition. Sacred tradition is the Bible as received, meditated on,
contemplated, read and put into effect in the life of the Church. Tradition reveals in the sense that it amplifies or
clarifies or actualizes the text of the Bible.

What makes the Bible a sacred text?


Many traditional Christians believe that the Bible is the literal word of God. Therefore, the text of the Bible is central
to their faith. The Bible is the collection of sacred books written by ancient prophets and historians. These authors
recorded the relationship between God and His people for over 4,000 years. Their inspired words are what we know
today as the Holy Bible.
