CONTEST
This part of the proposal will introduce the contests conducted during the library event.
This section will elaborate on the Blackout Poetry Contest, Bookmark Design Contest, and
Book Cover Design Contest.

Blackout Poetry Contest

Blackout poetry is a creative form of expression where existing text, usually from a book
or newspaper, is selectively obscured or "blacked out" with markers or paint, leaving only a
few chosen words or phrases visible to create a new poetic composition.

original work.
c. By joining the contest, you authorize Mapua Library to upload your entry to
its official Social Media Accounts.

4. Criteria for Judging

a. Content/Message (50%) - This criterion focuses on blackout poetry's
underlying message or theme. Judges will assess the depth, relevance, and
impact of the content. Entries with thought-provoking, meaningful, and well-
expressed messages will receive higher scores.
b. Creativity (30%) - Creativity evaluates blackout poetry's artistic and
imaginative aspects. Judges will look for unique interpretations, inventive use
of imagery, and innovative ways of combining the redacted text with the
remaining words. Entries that demonstrate originality and display creative
techniques will receive favorable consideration.
c. Coherence (20%) - Coherence assesses the overall flow and structure of the
blackout poetry. Judges will evaluate how well the remaining words form an
engaging and understandable cohesive piece. Entries with well-structured
compositions, logical connections, and a coherent narrative will be well-
regarded.

information and creating a first impression for potential readers. It includes the book’s title,
the author’s name, and a synopsis, often incorporating images, illustrations, or design
