The advantages and disadvantages of living in the city:


Advantages:
Living in urban areas brings many great advantages. Firstly, if we live in the city, we will
have many chances get the developing science and technology. It means that we will
have more job opportunities and broaden our knowledge more easily. Secondly, we will
have many different ways to spend our free time. There are a lot of theatres, concerts and
other kinds of entertainment. There is always a lot to do and visit. There are a lot of
possibilities of shopping. Finally, city lives make one more active and confident. City
dwellers need to be very active in order to keep up with the fast pace of the city. In
conclusion, living in a big city is generally considered to be beneficial in multiple ways.
Disadvantages:
Living in the city brings to us a lot of seriuos disadvantages. Firstly, a problem about
which everyone is worrying is environment. The increase of factories based on
industrialization and modernization has severely polluted environment. Secondly, living
in the city has society's vices such as drug addiction. Young people, especially the
students, are easily spoiled by bad habits. Finally, a problem that many people living in
the city have is heartlessness. If more and more people become heartless, the society will
be worse, every purposes became meaningless, without love, sympathy and many other
good things. In conclusion, besides the benefits, living in the city also has many
drawbacks, so we need to consider when living here.
UNIT 5:
The cause and effect of global warming
Global warming is one of the biggest issues facing humans nowadays, caused mainly by
humans. It has most catastrophic effects on humans and humans have to take action to
reduce the risks. In this essay, we will discuss the causes and effects of global warming
and give some possible solutions.
Global warming is the increase of Earth's average surface temperature due to effect of
greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide emissions from burning fossil fuels or from
deforestation, which trap heat that would otherwise escape from Earth.
Global warming has serious consequences. It leads to heat-related illnesses and death,
and spread of infectious diseases. It also results in melting of polar ice caps and rising of
sea levels. Extreme weather patterns such as severe storms, heat waves, flood and
droughts are obvious consequences of global warming. Moreover global warming might
cause the widespread extinction of species.
Every one of us can help to protect and sustain our environment by changing our
consumption habits such as reducing energy use, using green methods of transport and
planting trees.
In brief, global warming is a serious problem that has a lot of consequences and effects
on humans' lives. To solve this, people have to take action by changing our consumption
habits and protect our environment.
