Master of Engineering: Why Am I here?

Ever since I was young, I’ve had an interest in finding out how things work. This led me to pursue a career
in Electrical Engineering.
After 9 years working in different sectors in the industry, namely Power Distribution and then into
construction, I realized i needed to further my studies in the field.

As such I decided to enroll in Master of Engineering program in Xavier University. A Master of Engineering
program is designed to deepen the understanding of engineering principles, theories, and practices while
focusing on specialized areas within the field.

The Master of Engineering specialty I decided to focus on is on the field of Engineering Management.
Engineering management can be understood as the art and science of efficiently orchestrating engineering
processes, projects, and resources within an organization.

My choice to select the Engineering Management specialty can be summed into three reasons namely:

Continued Learning
In the realm of engineering, projects are becoming increasingly intricate, involving multidisciplinary teams,
global collaborations, and rapid technological advancements, so I aim to continue my education in order to
catch up to the increasing complexity of the field. Engineering managers must embrace continuous learning
to stay ahead of these changes. Adaptability enables them to remain effective leaders, guiding their teams
through the complexities of innovation while maintaining a solid understanding of the latest trends in the
engineering landscape.

Workplace Management
Engineering management is not just about managing projects; it's about inspiring teams, driving change,
and ultimately contributing to the growth and advancement of both technology and business. With
knowledge gained in my masters, I can improve as a workplace manager and leader in the business.

Personal Development
Last but not least, my main goal for my masters is personal development, and I believe continued
education will help me with this goal. Seeking higher education allows for personal growth as such a
person must go outside his comfort zone. Only outside the comfort zone can a person grow and develop
his skills and also develop their personality to one that is improved.

In summary, I decided to continue my studies after 10 years in the work environment in order to continue
my education, improve as a workplace manager and develop myself as a person reach outside my comfort
zone and grow.
