“Exploring Emotional Behavior of Generation Alpha on Materialism: A Qualitative Study”

SCOPE AND LIMITATION:

This study aims to explore Generation Alpha's emotional behavior within the Filipino

setting. It strives to gain insight into the emotional tendencies, responses, and coping

mechanisms of Filipino Generation Alpha children, born between 2010 and 2024, through the

use of qualitative research techniques including interviews. Furthermore, the research aims to

determine the factors modifying emotional development, such as family dynamics, peer

interactions, and media consumption, by exploring their emotional experiences within family,

academics, and social settings. In addition, the study seeks to discover how socioeconomic and

cultural norms determine Generation Alpha's emotional conditions in the Philippines.

The study's primary participants will be students enrolled at Adventist University of the

Philippines (AUP) between the ages of 9 and 14. This research will exclusively focus on Filipino

students, examining their personal experiences with emotional behavior in relation to family

wealth and material possessions. The study would not involve demographics of people outside of

academia, such as adults or those who do not attend the educational institution. By focusing

exclusively on students, this study seeks to provide light on the distinctive attitudes and lived

experiences of these individuals in the school setting. Moreover, this study will enhance the

understanding of the relationship between Generation Alpha's emotional behavior and

materialism.
