QUANTM
What is QUANTM?
QUANTM is the Future of Fluid
Handling!
• It’s an AODD pump that runs entirely
on electricity
• It performs like an AODD pump
o Stalls under pressure
o Uses same ball, seats, diaphragms, fluid covers
and manifolds as Husky and SaniForce lines
o Quiet operation, doesn’t use air
o No freezing
o Integrated controls
QUANTM
Why was QUANTM Developed?
Pneumatic pumps consume too much
energy……
• Industry asked for affordable and more
efficient pumps that offer same benefits
of an AODD
• EODD line was great intro into market,
but had challenges with costs and still
used air
• QUANTM integrates the electric motor
and controls in a small package while
eliminating the need for a gear box and
VFD

• Graco FluxCore, transverse flux motors provide up to 8x more continuous torque

at low speeds than conventional motors.
• Graco technology increases torque and power density while minimizing size and
resistance losses

Calculations based
on 2” QUANTM and
Husky AODD pumps

30
QUANTM
Return on Investment

Typical pneumatic AODD pumps

are less than 20% efficient!!
• Accounting for compressor
efficiency, losses due to leaks, and
amount of compressed air a
pneumatic pump actually consumes
to displace fluid

31
QUANTM

Energy Savings
QUANTM

Compressor
system rules of • Air compressors deliver around 4 to 5
CFM (at 100 psi) per HP input power
thumb
• Approximately $500/HP of operation
cost per year

• 10% of total cost of the compressor in

annual maintenance
• When this is neglected, the
inefficiencies of the system go up and
catastrophic maintenance and/or
replacement maybe eventually be
required.
QUANTM

Compressor System
Comments
• The most inefficient system, 7-10x more
expensive than electricity alone
• US DOE data shows 30% - 50% of
compressed air is wasted
• Compressed air improvements are the
lowest cost per kWh of any energy
efficiency activity
• 95% of all compressed air systems have
low-cost energy alternatives
• 80% of all compressed air systems operate
below OEM specifications
QUANTM

Air Compressor Losses

(wall to the compressor) • Energy lost due to heat loss

• Energy lost due to gears and

motor slip/in-efficiency

• Poorly maintained filter systems

• Only ~10-15% translated from

electrical power to compressed
air
QUANTM

Pneumatic System Losses

(compressor to the pump)

Air Leaks
• 20-30% of air can be lost due to leaks in the system
piping or equipment with loose seals
• Air leak sniffers exist to try to capture this amount

In-efficient Air pipe layout or use:

• 10-20% losses due to inefficient or incorrect air
piping layouts
• Distance from the compressor to application
• Improperly sized pipe
• Numerous pipe bends, valves and changes in
pipe size and direction
• Using unregulated or under-regulated air(using
more than is needed by a piece of equipment
or system)

An example for i120 – 2¨ Quantm pump

Fluid Flow: 189 liters / minute (50 gpm)

Fluid Output Pressure: app. 40 psi (2.8 bar)

Power Consumption: 1429 Watts

QUANTM

For same flow rate and fluid outlet pressure, the

air consumption by an AODD pump is

approximately 40 scfm
(standard cubic feet meter)

Flow Rate: 189 liters / minute (60 gpm)

Air Inlet Pressure: 3.80 bar (55 psi)
Fluid Outlet Pressure: 2.8 bar (app 40 psi)
QUANTM

1 scfm = 207 watts

Maintenance
QUANTM
Maintenance
Center Section Greaser Tool Rotor/Shaft Assembly Removal

• Rotor assembly removal is done with the preload nut

• Lubrication is done without removing the motor from installation tool. The tool is used to remove the stator caps
the pump housing by fully seating the greaser tool in which retain the rotor assembly. The entire rotor assembly is
removable as a unit.
the center section and applying grease through the
zerk fitting

• Lubrication should be done whenever replacing • This repair is typically only required if the pump is run with
material behind the diaphragm, left with fluid on the back of
diaphragms or after 1000 operational hours the diaphragms or if proper greasing is not conducted over
the life of the pump.
