Topic: How and why moss boards can act as tree alternatives within urban areas?

Title: : A Study on Moss Boards as Space-Efficient Cost-Effective

Tree Alternatives in Polluted Urban Areas

List of Objectives:

• To see how effective moss boards are as tree alternatives.

• To notice the effects of moss boards within the community.
• To know the reaction of the people to said innovation.

Rationale:

Urban pollution affects communities heavily, endangering not solely the environment but also the health of the
populace and the viability of cities as a whole. Although there is no denying the problems that urban pollution
presents, trees have the ability to greatly lessen these detrimental effects. Trees are essential to urban ecosystems,
given that they absorb pollutants, release oxygen into the atmosphere, and act as natural air purifiers. Further, let's
use the Philippines as an illustration. The Philippines faces ongoing difficulties in maintaining and enhancing these
natural allies. In particular, urbanization and deforestation are prominent issues that contribute to the reduction of the
amount of trees in the majority of our urban areas. Environmental regulations tend to be poorly and inadequately
enforced, despite measures to solve these issues. Furthermore, the persistent economic difficulties the Philippines is
facing are not helping the nation in any way, they are causing unsustainable practices to continue and severely
hampering the cultivation of trees.

Undoubtedly, trees provide value to the environment, but it is consistently difficult to maintain them. Hence,
alternative possibilities have been investigated that may be able to assist in the critical area of ecological
preservation. The use of moss and algae boards in urban settings is one unique option that is attracting interest.
These alternatives to traditional trees have special benefits including rapid growth rates and less upkeep needs and
one of them is algae. Algae are simple aquatic organisms that provide several benefits and aid in the absorption of
carbon. They also help maintain ecological balance. Algae play a major role in maintaining the health of the
environment by producing oxygen and absorbing carbon dioxide. One noteworthy benefit is their quick development,
and also they outgrow trees and mature in a matter of days or weeks.

Moss boards, on the other hand, absorb contaminants and particle matter from the atmosphere and so serve
as natural air filters. This helps to reduce the detrimental impact of urban pollution on people's respiratory health by
improving the quality of the air. These boards also contribute to the aesthetic appeal of urban settings by bringing
vegetation and biodiversity to places that are frequently occupied by concrete. Moreover, mosses are noted for their
capacity to hold in moisture, which means that they need less watering and fertilization. Aforementioned, they don't
require a lot of maintenance. They require less water and chemicals, which promotes water efficiency and lessens
the impact on the environment. Furthermore, because there is fewer demands for constant care, trimming, or pest
management, the minimal maintenance requirements also translate into reduced expenses for urban maintenance
expenditures. Moss boards are a sensible option in places where there may be a shortage of manpower and
materials for landscaping because of the simplicity of maintenance.
