Using the 50 Free
Math Games
Using the Games
The games have been set out in skill areas. Use the table of contents to help
find games for particular skills or scan through this PDF to see what is included.

This collection includes both color board games and B&W game sheets.

Color Board Games

The color games are game boards. These can be printed in color or black and
white and usually require dice and counters to play. You can:
• Print and Laminate - Print the game board on white cardstock or on white
paper and laminate.
• Use a Dry Erase Pocket or Sheet Protector - Instead of laminating, the
game boards can be printed on card or paper and put into a dry erase pocket
or sheet protector to make them more durable.

Black and White Game Sheets

The B&W games are game sheets. These games are played on the paper.
Simply print the game on paper and it is ready. Players will require pencils to
play and some games also require dice. Alternatively, slip them into a dry erase
pocket and they can be used over and over again with dry erase markers.

If you want more games like these, you will find my wide range of math and
language games in my Teachers Pay Teachers store –

Need: 2 dice and 8 counters per player – each player uses a different color
To Play: Players take turns to roll the two dice and add the numbers together. Then they add 9
to the total and cover this number with one of their counters, covering the large number. If the
other player has covered that number, they can ‘bump’ that counter off and put one of their own
counters on it. If that number is covered by one of the player’s own counters, they can add
another counter on top and then they have won that space and no more counters can be
added. You can only ‘bump’ when there is only one counter on the number. The winner of the
game is the first player to use all 8 of their counters.

Earth Day Subtraction
Color a subtraction equation.
a game for 2 players Need: pencils
Players take turns to color the numbers to make a subtraction equation,
coloring one square from each set, e.g. a player could color 10, 4 and 6 for
10-4=6. Once a number is colored, it can’t be used again. The winner is the
last person to make an equation.

to use for the game. Players take turns
to roll the 2 dice. The player then adds,
subtracts, multiplies or divides the 2
numbers on the dice and covers the
number they have created. For example,
if a player rolls 2 and 6, they could cover
8 (2+6), 4 (6-2), 12 (2x6) or 3 (6÷2).
Play continues until one player has 7 8
covered every number on their bus. This

player is the winner.

a game for 2 players

Need: 2 dice and 8 counters per player – each player uses a different color
To Play: Players take turns to roll the 2 dice, add the numbers together and then add 5
more. Then they cover this number with one of their counters, covering the large number.
If the other player has covered that number, they can ‘bump’ that counter off and put one
of their own counters on it. If that number is covered by one of the player’s own counters,
they can add another counter on top and then they have won that space and no more
counters can be added. You can only ‘bump’ when there is only one counter on the
number. The winner of the game is the first player to use all 8 of their counters.
