Topic: “Water Features”
One the way to cool the climate is to recreate
Water Features, such as :Fountains, Bird Baths,
Water gardens, bubblers, Laminar jets and artificial
ponds, waterfalls etc.
Here are some ways in which water features
contribute to cooling the climate:
 As water evaporates from the water features, it
absorbs heat and becomes water vapor in the
atmosphere. This process, known as latent heat
absorption, cools the surrounding environment.
 Albedo Effect: Water typically have a lower
albedo (reflectivity) than land surfaces. This
means that they absorb more solar radiation and
reflect less back into space. This helps to cool
the surrounding areas, as the absorbed heat is
stored in the water and not immediately re-
radiated back to the atmosphere.
 Thermal Inertia: Water has a higher specific
heat capacity than land, meaning it can absorb
and store more heat energy. This leads to slower
temperature changes in areas with water
features.
 Rainfall and Hydrological Cycle: Water
features contribute to the hydrological cycle by
releasing water vapor into the atmosphere
through evaporation. This moisture can then
lead to rainfall, which helps cool the atmosphere
and regulate temperatures. It is not costly at all
and all classes from Poor till Rich class all can
afford it as it is budget friendly
