COMPRESSED AIR SYSTEM

WHAT IS COMPRESSED AIR ?

Compressed air is

nothing but Moving air

molecules into a small

space .

Compressed Air System
What is Instrument air?

An Instrument air is required to control pneumatically operated

instruments and drivers.

Instrument air is essentially has to be :

Oil – free
Dust – free
dry
How Instrument Air Produced?
What is Service Air?

Service air is used for general house cleaning ,pneumatic tools

and other miscellaneous purposes.

Service air is essentially has to be:

Oil –free
Dust- free
How Service Air Produced?
AIR COMPRESSOR
How Compressed Air Produced?

Compressed air can be produced by two processes:

1. Conversion of Air velocity into pressure(Dynamic Compression)

2. By reducing Air volume to pressure(Displacement Compression)

Dynamic compressor working(Axial compressor)

INTER COOLER AND AFTER COOLER
What is Intercooler and Aftercooler?

Intercooler and After cooler are heat exchangers . Cooler

purpose is to decrease the temperature of compressed air
without altering its pressure.

There are two types of cooler:

1. Air inter cooler

2. Water inter cooler

MOISTURE SEPARATOR
What is Moisture Separator?

Moisture Separator is used to remove liquid water, vapor, solid

particles, oil and oil vapors from the compressed air.
Moisture separation can be done in following ways:
1.Draining the tank
2.Water trap and Filter Regulator
3.Storage tank cooling method

RECEIVER TANK
What is Air Receiver Tank?
Air receiver tanks are
used to store
compressed air
before it enters into
piping system and
equipment.

It acts as a Buffer when

power is off.
AIR FILTER
What is Air Filter?

Air Filter is a device composed of fibrous, or porous

materials which remove solid particles such as dust,
pollen and mold from the air.
How Air Filter work?
AIR DRYER
What is Air Dryer?

Air Dryer extracts humidity and prevents new liquid forming in

compressed air.
Types of Air Dryer:
1.Refrigirated Air Dryer
2.Desiccant Air Dryer
3.Deliquescent Air Dryer
