Appendix A
Letter to Barangays

Dear Madame/Sir,
Good day!
We are fourth year nursing students from FEU and we are conducting a research study entitled,
"The Difference Between the Caring Habits of Mothers who are Users and Non-users of
Social Networking Sites."
The aim of this study is to determine the difference between the number of hours spent by
mothers in self-care, family care, environmental care and use of social networking sites (SNS)
such as facebook, yahoo and the like. Furthermore, it aims to provide evidence whether SNS
significantly takes the time of the mothers which is supposedly spent to care for the family, self
and the environment.
In lieu of this, may we ask permission from your good office to conduct this study in your
barangay. We wish to interview the housewives in your barangay for our data collection. We
assure you that any information given by these mothers will be kept confidential and will solely
be use for the purpose of the study.
For your reference, attached herewith is a copy of the questionnaire that we will use. May we
humbly ask you also for assistance in terms of identifying and locating these respondents who
are housewives with eldest child aged seven and without any household or relatives to
help in their daily activities.
