What are social issues?
These are problems that influence many citizens within a society. These are common

Group 2 will answer them based on the given article on the activity sheets. I will randomly ask members to answer
questions.

Let us read the poem entitled, Richard Cory by Edwin Arlington Robinson.
Vocabulary
arrayed – dressed.
imperially – majestically
fluttered - moved with short, quick, light movements.
glittered – showed a brilliant, attractive, lavish, or spectacular looks

Richard Cory

1 Whenever Richard Cory went down town,

2 We people on the pavement looked at him:
3 He was a gentleman from sole to crown,
4 Clean favored and imperially slim.
5 And he was always quietly arrayed,
6 And he was always human when he talked,
7 But still he fluttered pulses when he said,
8 "Good-morning," and he glittered when he walked.
9 And he was rich--yes, richer than a king--
10 And admirably schooled in every grace:
11 In fine, we thought that he was everything.
12 To make us wish that we were in his place.
13 So on we worked, and waited for the light,
14 And went without the meat and cursed the bread;
15 And Richard Cory, one calm summer night,
16 Went home and put a bullet through his head.

Group 1

June 4, 2020 by Patrick Garcia
A story video of an elderly man and a bike shop owner Wednesday (June 3, 2020) is touching the hearts
of many as it proved that despite the threat of COVID-19, there are still people willing to help others in this time
of crisis. According to Juhdel Pagador, the staff of Carandang Bike Shop in Pasay City and the uploader of the

were any bikes available to purchase. When the shop finally had an available stock, of mini mountain bikes,

The amount was less than half its original price of P4,500. But after he’d been back to the shop several

gave him a bike lock to prevent it from beng stolen saying “Kunin mo na iyan. Regalo na namin sa’yo,” (Take it.
It’s our gift to you.) Carandang said Samonte walks from Nicholas to Makati every day to sell candies. With the
onging general community quarantine (GCQ) due to pandemic, some public transportation has been suspended
