Course Objectives:

1. This module has been designed to enable learners to embark on paths of personal and
Professional leadership development.
2. The objective of this module is to make the learners understand why and how leadership
skills are so critical for personal and organizational success.
3. This module intends to develop critical appreciation and impart effective leadership
skills.
4. Students will assess their leadership traits and skills to improve their own leadership
performance.
5. Demonstrate effective interpersonal and leadership skills to build an environment of
trust, respect, confidence and results within an organization.

Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs)

At the end of the course, the students will be able to:


1. Define leadership, and identify the essential leadership skills.
2. Recognize the role of leadership in setting the ethical tone for an organization.
3. Identify the major sources of work-life balance conflict.
4. Describe the resistance to change within an organization and strategies a leader can use to
address them.
5. Recognise and reflect on the personal values and challenges underpinning their own
leadership approach

Module: I Introduction

 Introduction: Defining Leadership and Significance & Importance to Leadership


 Roles of a Leader, Qualities of successful leader.
 Defining an organization: Organizational Leadership, Organisation Culture, System and
change.
 Differences between leadership and management in organizations
 Being a leader: Personal Philosophy, Self-Leadership, followship, ethical leadership.

 Leadership Theories (“Great Man" Theory or Trait Theory”, Contingency Theory,


Behavioural Theory, Transactional Theory, Relational Theory)
 Strategic Leadership
 Key Characteristic of Effective Leader.

Module: III Leadership Style

 Leadership Style – (Democratic Leadership, Transformational Leadership, Delegative


Leadership, Authoritative Leadership, Transactional Leadership)
 Roles of Leader in Decision Making
 Leadership team: Tam formation, team dynamic, Team development, motivation, conflict
resolution, power, politics, change and management of diversity.
 Strategic Leadership.
