“Gè” is the most important of more than 200 measure words in Chinese. If you don’t know which measure
word to use, “gè” is a good choice. Maybe it is not perfect, but people will understand you.

Example:
Yī gè rén - One person
Sān gè Zhōngguó rén - Three Chinese persons
Sì gè shǒujī - Four cellphones
