Chapter 5

Findings, Results, and Recommendations

This chapter explores the conclusions, outcomes, and suggestions arising from a

comparative study on the growth-promoting properties of fermented Moringa juice (FMJ)

and synthetic fertilizer (Triple 14 Complete Fertilizer). Our investigation sought to learn

more about the effectiveness of FMJ as a sustainable substitute for synthetic fertilizers

while taking into account its effects on pest resistance, soil health, and plant

development. We talk about how our findings could be interpreted and offer doable

suggestions for sustainable farming methods.

Findings:

1. Growth Discrepancy: There were noticeable variations in plant growth when

FMJ and synthetic fertilizer were compared. Plants treated with FMJ showed four

leaves, compared to five leaves on plants treated with synthetic fertilizer.

2. Impact of Synthetic Fertilizer: The fact that plants fed with synthetic fertilizer

have five leaves indicates how effective the fertilizer is at accelerating plant

growth and development.

3. FMJ Efficacy and Soil Enrichment: Plants treated with FMJ showed healthy

foliage while growing at a somewhat slower rate and with four leaves.

Additionally, the natural nature of FMJ may give extra nutrients to the soil,

promoting long-term soil health.

Results:

1. Possible Soil Damage from Synthetic Fertilizer: Although synthetic fertilizer

showed growth benefits right once, frequent application of it may eventually

cause soil degradation and nutrient depletion.

2. FMJ as a Sustainable Substitute: Although it has a somewhat slower growth

impact than synthetic fertilizers, FMJ is a natural and sustainable substitute. Its

capacity to provide the soil with extra nutrients emphasizes its role in maintaining

the health of the soil throughout time. It is noteworthy that plants treated with

FMJ showed resistance to typical insect pests. The natural preventative effect of

molasses in FMJ against hazardous insects could be the reason for this behavior.

Despite the application of FMJ, no hazardous insects were found, highlighting the

plant health benefits and potential to decrease reliance on chemical pesticides.

Recommendations:

1. Gradual Transition to Natural Fertilization Methods: Encourage farmers to

swap out their synthetic fertilizer use for more environmentally friendly, natural

fertilization techniques like FMJ. This should happen gradually. Encourage

farmers to modify their methods by offering advice and assistance, stressing the

value of maintaining soil health and long-term sustainability. Implement pilot

programs and demonstration projects to highlight how natural fertilizing

techniques can support balanced plant growth and preserve soil fertility. Farmers

can encourage ecologically friendly agricultural practices and lessen the potential

harm caused by synthetic fertilizers by progressively adopting FMJ and other

natural alternatives.

2. Soil Health Education: Educate farmers on the value of maintaining soil health

and the possible risks associated with long-term usage of synthetic fertilizers.

Emphasize FMJ’s contribution to encouraging sustainable farming techniques and

adding extra nutrients to the soil.

3. Trial and Observation: To evaluate the long-term impacts of FMJ and synthetic

fertilizers on plant growth and soil health, conduct additional experiments and
observations. To provide guidance for sustainable fertilization techniques, track

alterations in plant vitality and soil composition.

4. Research and Development: Invest in research projects to enhance the nutrient

content and production methods of FMJ. Investigate cutting-edge methods to

increase FMJ’s efficiency in fostering soil enrichment and plant growth while

reducing its negative effects on the environment.

5. Policy Support: Suggest laws that encourage environmentally friendly

fertilization methods and provide incentives for switching to natural fertilizers

like FMJ. As farmers switch to more ecologically friendly fertilization techniques,

offer them tools and financial support.
