Speed Limits
Speeding is not only against the law but also increases the risk of accidents and is a major
cause of fatalities. To solve speeding, it’s important to identify the source of the
problem. You may not pay enough attention to the speed limit, feel stressed out, or
don’t give yourself enough time to get somewhere. Speeding can result in wrecked
vehicles, injuries, disabilities, and death.

Unless otherwise posted, stay at or below these speed

limits:
 40 km/h within the Aramco communities, facilities or
premises.
 50 km/h for vehicles within city limits.
 30 km/h maximum for vehicles in school zones.
 80 km/h for heavy trucks outside city limits.
 100 km/h for passenger vehicles outside city limits, or
as posted.
Stopping Yourself from Speeding:
Relax yourself before driving:
Being anxious or angry can make you drive more erratically. Before you start your
vehicle, relax by taking some deep breaths.
Leave earlier so you don’t rush to your destination:
Many people speed because they feel like they’re running late. Don’t put yourself in a
situation where you feel pressured. Give yourself plenty of time to get to where you need
to go.
Pay close attention to the speedometer:
Continuous glances at the speedometer will keep you in check. Take a quick look down to
see how fast you're going. Adjust your speed accordingly.
Always drive slower than the posted speed limit and when hazardous conditions exist
(e.g. bad weather, poor visibility, or at night).

Severity & risk of injury is closely linked to speed

If you hit a pedestrian at:
 32 kmh – 1 in 40 will be killed (2.5%)
 48 kmh – 1 in 5 will be killed (20%)
 55 kmh – 1 in 2 will be killed (50%)
 65 kmh – 9 in 10 will be killed (90%
