The community is alarmed by the violence among junior high school students in Cilacap,

Central Java. The bullying case went viral through a video on social media.

After capturing the perpetrators, the police revealed the motive behind the assault on the junior
high school student in Cilacap.

Bullying and assault on junior high school students occurred in the Cimanggu District, Cilacap
Regency. In the video circulating on social media, the perpetrator and the victim were seen
wearing the same school uniform.

The incident was known to have taken place at SMPN 2 Cimanggu. The police then intervened
and arrested two perpetrators, identified as WS (at the age of 14) and MK ( at the age of 15).
Both of them are now suspects.

"They were declared suspects yesterday," said Kasat Reskrim of the Cilacap City Police Resort,
Kompol Guntar Arif Setyoko, in a written message on Friday (September 29th, 2023).

The police revealed the motive behind the assault. The Chief of Cilacap City Police Resort,
Kombes Fannky Ani Sugiharto, stated that the incident was caused by the perpetrator MK's
refusal to accept the victim, identified as FF ( at the age of 14), claiming to be a member of the
Student Brigade (Basis) group.

"The motive is that the victim claimed to be a member of the Anti-Student Organization (Basis)
group. But he is not a member of this group," said Fannky during the case disclosure at the
Cilacap Police Headquarters on Wednesday (September 27th).

According to the police, the victim, after claiming to be part of the Basis group, also challenged
other groups outside of school.

"He challenged them to come outside. Eventually, he encountered the leader of the Anti-
Student Organization group that went viral in the video. The indication is that the perpetrator is
the leader," he explained.

The brutal assault carried out by MK (15) on FF (14) caused the victim to suffer severe injuries,
including a broken rib. Kasat Reskrim of the Cilacap City Police Resort, Kompol Guntar Arif
Setyoko, stated that based on the X-ray results at the local general hospital in Majenang, the
victim's left rib was broken.

"The X-ray results show a broken rib. That's why it requires more intensive treatment, so we
referred him to Margono," said Guntar on Thursday evening (September 28th, 2023).

Therefore, the victim needs to undergo surgery. However, he could not explain whether the
surgery is related to the broken rib or not.

"We'll wait for the doctor's decision," he explained.

FF (14), the victim of bullying in Cilacap, suffered severe injuries and had to undergo treatment
at the hospital. The police provided financial assistance and care for FF.
"To alleviate the burden on FF's family, the Indonesian National Police provides financial
assistance for FF's treatment and care," said the Chief of Cilacap City Police Resort, Kombes
Fannky Ani Sugiharto, in his statement on Friday (September 29th, 2023).

Fannky said that currently, FF has been referred to a hospital in Purwokerto for surgery and
intensive care. He then prayed for FF's speedy recovery.

"At the moment, FF, who is the victim of bullying, has been referred to a hospital in Purwokerto
for surgery and intensive care. Hopefully, the victim recovers quickly and can resume activities,"
he said.

Not only that, the Indonesian National Police has also provided psychological support to FF and
the witnesses who were questioned, accompanied by their respective families.
