About
Sanskrit
Sanskrit is the spiritual and sacred language
of Hinduism, with classic Hindu philosophy,
Ancient vedic texts like the puranas and
many more, Sanskrit is the world's oldest
language and was the former national
language of ancient India, Sanskrit is called
as the mother of all languages.

Why do
people speak
Hindi and not
Sanskrit?
Sanskrit was limited to a small circle because
of the confined outlook of pandits. This
limited its popularity. Sanskrit has been an
important language in India since ancient
times. Hence, a simpler language like Hindi
was adapted.

Why is Sanskrit
dying?
First of all, Sanskrit didn't completely die. There are still uses for it.
In the 11th century, when India was under Muslim rule. Arabic was
substituted for Sanskrit by several Muslim rulers. With the end of
the Muslim rule, the British became the rulers of India. They
replaced Sanskrit with English. The rulers of several empires tried
to replace Sanskrit with their own languages. The death of Sanskrit
is primarily due to this reason. Another reason is, Sanskrit is very
much complex to read and understand. Sanskrit can only be
understood by those who are well versed in it. It takes a
considerable time to learn because of its complexity.

schools not
teaching
Sanskrit?
Sanskrit has a lot of complicated
grammatical rules that will take years to
master, which is why foreign languages
(French, Spanish, German, etc) is much
easier to learn than Sanskrit. Hence, they
are taught in schools instead of Sanskrit.
