A. Reviewing previous lesson and presenting the new lesson

The teacher will ask the topic of the previous lesson and will follow more questions to
elaborate each given points.

What is sound?
Can you enumerate the few uses of sound.
What are the sources of sound?
What will happen if there is no sound?

Motivation
Ask the students the following questions:
Do you have appliances in your house?
What do you need to do in order for it to work?
What makes your gadgets and appliances work?
Where do you think electricity comes from?
B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson
Introduce the topic and the purpose of the lesson to the students
The teacher will read the topic of the lesson:
Source and Uses of Electricity
Introduce the learning objective of the lesson:
a) Classify object that operate using battery or when plugged
b) Reflect on the importance of electricity
c) Formulate safety measure in using electricity
C. Presenting Examples
a. b.

The teacher will ask the student to share their ideas about the picture and will ask
questions if necessary.
The picture shows light bulb and lightning, they both have electric power.

D. Discussing New Concept and Practicing New Skills #1

Electricity is a form of energy like light, heat and sound.
Electricity works only when an electric current flow through closed or complete circuit

A complete circuit has a power source, a switch, wire and a bulb.

It powers everything around us we use it everyday in our homes to power lights, TVs,
computers, refrigerators and to charge our phones.
The teacher will ask the students to enumerate some electric-powered
appliances/gadgets.
E. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills #2
Sources of Electricity
Electricity is carried by power lines that are connected to our homes and buildings.
These power lines come all the way from power plants that produce energy from
different sources.
(The teacher will play a video about
Geothermal power plant)

Geothermal power plants use hydrothermal

sources that have both water (hydro) and heat
(thermal). They require high temperature from
dry stream wells or from hot water wells.

Tongonan Geotherma Power Plant is situated

in Kananga, Leyte in the Philippines. The
Power plant generates and supplies electricity
in Leyte.

(The teacher will play a video about

hydropower plants)

Hydropower (water-powered) plants gets the

energy of falling water to produce electricity. A
machine called turbine converts the kinetic
energy of falling water into mechanical energy.
Then a generator converts the mechanical
energy from the turbine into electrical energy.

(The teacher will play a video about how solar

panels work)

Solar panel. The sun shines on the solar

panels and the panels absorb the energy,
creating direct current (DC) electricity. The
electricity is fed int what is called a solar
inverter. This converts the current into
alternating current (AC) electricity. The AC
current is then used to pwer the appliances in
your home.

(The teacher will play a vide about how solar

panels work)
Wind turbines are tall towers topped with
blades. The blades are connected to a vertical
shaft, or rod. When wind causes the blades to
spin, they turn the shaft. The turning shaft
provides power to a machine called a
generator, which produces electricity.
Batter also provides electricity. They come in
different shapes and sizes.

Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills #2

F. Paglinang sa Kabihasaan (Developing Mastery)

G. Paglalapat ng aralin sa pang-araw-araw na buhay (Finding practical applications of concepts and skills in
daily living; values integration)

H. Paglalahat ng Aralin (Generalization and abstractions about the lesson)

I. Pagtataya ng Aralin (Evaluation)

J. Karagdagang Gawain at Remediation (Additional Activities for Application/ Remediation)
