TOOLBOX TALK- WORK AT HEIGHT SAFETY

All work at height activities, where a person or materials can fall, work
area to be protected in accordance with the following specification.

▪ Guard rails to be provided to a minimum height of 910mm


▪ Incorporate a toe board with a minimum height of 150mm capable of
preventing materials falling, with no gaps below.
▪ Not have vertical gaps between any guardrails or toe board which
exceed 470mm. (There should be no gaps below toe boards)
▪ Where there is a potential for materials or tools to fall, All tools and
materials to be tethered to prevent a fall
▪ Adequate exclusion zone shall be maintained in the ground level with
flagman and warning signage
▪ Where materials are stacked higher than (910mm) height of
guardrails, material guards will be provided above the height of the
materials to be stored).
▪ Be provided to a higher standard where additional hazards are
identified, e.g. adjacent public areas / project interfaces (walkways,
roads, and offices), specific work activities, height of building,
exposed locations etc.
▪ Where items of small scissor lift are likely to be used near slab edges,
have physical stops provided to prevent the powered mobile
equipment reaching the edge of the slab and / or impacting the edge
protection.
▪ A full body harness with double lanyard harness to be used and
anchored to a safe anchorage point while working in all elevated
work areas
▪ Horseplay in any form is strictly prohibited.
▪ Competent supervision shall be available for all work at height
activities
▪ Work at Height is a life critical activity and violations will be dealt in
accordance with JML “Zero Tolerance Policy”
