This toolbox talk outlines safety requirements for all work at height, including providing guard rails at least 910mm high with toe boards to prevent falling materials, ensuring no vertical gaps over 470mm, tethering tools and materials, maintaining exclusion zones on the ground, and using full body harnesses anchored to safe points for elevated work. Competent supervision is required for all work at height.

▪ Guard rails to be provided to a minimum height of 910mm
▪ Incorporate a toe board with a minimum height of 150mm capable of preventing materials falling, with no gaps below. ▪ Not have vertical gaps between any guardrails or toe board which exceed 470mm. (There should be no gaps below toe boards) ▪ Where there is a potential for materials or tools to fall, All tools and materials to be tethered to prevent a fall ▪ Adequate exclusion zone shall be maintained in the ground level with flagman and warning signage ▪ Where materials are stacked higher than (910mm) height of guardrails, material guards will be provided above the height of the materials to be stored). ▪ Be provided to a higher standard where additional hazards are identified, e.g. adjacent public areas / project interfaces (walkways, roads, and offices), specific work activities, height of building, exposed locations etc. ▪ Where items of small scissor lift are likely to be used near slab edges, have physical stops provided to prevent the powered mobile equipment reaching the edge of the slab and / or impacting the edge protection. ▪ A full body harness with double lanyard harness to be used and anchored to a safe anchorage point while working in all elevated work areas ▪ Horseplay in any form is strictly prohibited. ▪ Competent supervision shall be available for all work at height activities ▪ Work at Height is a life critical activity and violations will be dealt in accordance with JML “Zero Tolerance Policy”
