x Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic for
presentation and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. Products of
learning will be uniquely designed. Teacher simply facilitates the learning in a lesson like this.
x Project-based and/or Publishable: Students are completing projects to demonstrate their learning
and the projects can be shared outside of the classroom. This objective could be reached by
displaying the project on the school’s morning newscast, posting the project to the classroom
blog, presenting it to another class, or publishing it via an outside source.

Students will be responsible for creating a story book reciting our national anthem. Students
can keep up with the requirements of this lesson via a guided handout small group teacher
support, where they will draw pictures to each stanza that will be uploaded for their digital
stories.
Because this lesson will be done in small groups it may take a week or more to conclude. The
lesson will end by giving students the option to present their work if they wish and posting
student work to our class blog for parents to view.
Managing the technology/engagement: Describe a way to use this technology in a way that
gets students actively involved in authentic tasks and contexts? How will you manage the
classroom behaviors on the technology:
Technology use will be managed by having the students draw out their story on a hardcopy
handout prior to working digitally. Students will have teacher / para-professional aid by small
group so that an adult can monitor and facilitate meaningful work by guiding students
through step by step. Students will also have a timer displayed on the board in class to have a
visual representation of on-task time.

kindergarten students. However, proficiency with productivity tools will be highly important
for students moving forward and be useful background knowledge in planning future lessons.
