Worksheet Objectives:
1. Describe the four ethical communities
2. Apply the ethical communities to your personal case situation

Complete the following making sure to support your ideas and cite from the textbook and other
course materials per APA guidelines. After the peer review, you have a chance to update this and
format for your Electronic Portfolio due in Module 6.

1) Briefly restate your situation from Module 1 and your role.

My role is a Human Resource manager, who works alongside corporate research and strategy.
The situation is regarding the backlash they received for gender discrimination against
employees and accusing the organization of retaliation after complaining about pay inequity
issues.

2) Describe how the ethics of the organization influenced the situation.

Ethics in the organization influenced the situation by allowing us to take accountability for
actions of a leadership member and taking the steps to reinforce behavioral expectations for
leadership and as an organization.

3) Recommend how you would apply one of the ethical communities for an alternative
course of action regarding your case.

I would apply ethics to a way that allows us to provide respect and transparency. I would also
ensure that everyone in the organization is treated with respect, fairness and compassion. The
behaviors that these employees had to go through were not held to our standards and lacked
professionalism.

4) Reflect on what you would do or not do differently given what you have learned
about ethics.

I wouldn’t change anything about the decisions that I made and the way that I took initiative to
handle the complaints. I feel that the steps I took were necessary, they also allowed me to
investigate where the issue stemmed from and what we need to do or could do better as an
organization to change our company culture, and to ensure that leadership and employees are
held to the same standards.
