Everything You Need to Know for Washington State's Spring Career Fair
By: Sara Clayton

Washington State University is hosting its annual Spring Career Fair on Feb. 6 allowing
students to connect with employers such as Amazon, PACCAR, Darigold and many more.

Academic Success & Career Center employer relations manager Aimee Tejeda Lunn
explains a rundown of all spring expos happening this year.

“One thing to note, in regards to career expos, is that there are different types. We have
the main one at Beasley Coliseum on Tuesday, February 6th, and then on Monday, February 5th
we have the virtual career expo so students can log in to Handshake and have that event. Then
we also have another Career Expo called C.A.S.E which stands for Communication, Art
Sciences & Education.” Said Lunn.

These events allow students to network with recruiters to make connections, explore
possible career and/or educational opportunities, and gain knowledge on certain skills for the
workplace after graduation.

There are a total of 127 employers attending the expo, some located in Pullman and
others from all over. The industries of said employers will consist of construction, government,
sales, marketing, engineering, health care, higher education, etc…

Internships and Career Services advise freshmen to attend this event in order to begin a
professional network with peers and advisors.

“Company representatives will answer your questions about careers in the industry, what
the company looks for in an intern, whether or not they hire interns who are just starting their
educational career, or any other question you might have about the company or the industry,”
said Student Success Center.

Lunn gave her 3 most important tips to students who are attending the expo.
“The first thing to consider is to attend some of the career prep events happening on
campus, all of them are available on handshake, number two look at and research employees on
handshake, and make sure you have your resume and handshake ready and up to date,” said
Lunn.

Students who have attended have found many benefits to attending and appreciated the
experience WSU has given them.

Current student Addesen Lopez said “I had to go to the fair for one of the courses I was
taking at the time but wasn’t super excited about it, I’m glad that I went, I learned so much about
the workplace and the future of my career, along with skills on how to communicate with
employers like it was the real thing.”

Lopez agreed that the fair is a vital event for students to attend even if they don’t
necessarily know what they want to go into.

Sophomore Clarissa Oord has heard a lot about the fair but has never attended, she plans
on attending at some point of her college education.
