SUBJECT: MONITORING REPORT ON THE ESTABLISHMENT OF CHILD

PROTECTION COMMITTEE

Introduction:
The establishment of Child Protection Committees (CPCs) is an essential measure to
protect children from various forms of abuse and exploitation, especially in schools. The
Schools Division Office (SDO) of Cotabato aims to establish CPCs in all schools within its
jurisdiction using the data portal. This report presents the monitoring findings of the
progress of this initiative after its implementation in 682 schools, including 503
elementary and 179 secondary schools.

Methodology:
The monitoring report was conducted using a mixed-method approach, specifically a
combination of qualitative and quantitative analysis. The qualitative analysis involved
conducting interviews with school administrators, teachers, and parents. On the other
hand, the quantitative analysis involved collecting and analyzing data on the number of
established CPCs using the data portal.

Results:
The monitoring report showed that 90% or 614 out of 682 schools have formed their
CPCs using the data portal. Among the 614 schools, 444 are elementary and 170 are
secondary schools. The remaining 68 schools have yet to establish their CPCs, and the
reasons cited include a lack of time, resources, and support from parents.
Among the established CPCs, 82% have started their implementation of child protection
policies and practices, including drafting and implementing a child protection policy and
conducting child protection training for teachers, non-teaching staff, and students.
Moreover, 85% of schools reported active participation from parents in the establishment
and implementation of their CPCs. The rest of the schools reported less active
participation from parents, citing their lack of time and resources as reasons.

Discussion:
The establishment of CPCs using the data portal in the SDO of Cotabato has shown
successful implementation in the majority of schools. This initiative has shown
promising progress in promoting child protection in schools and ensuring the safety and
well-being of children. However, some schools still require support and resources to

establish their CPCs. Encouraging parent participation is also crucial to ensure the
sustained success of the CPCs.

Conclusion:
In conclusion, the findings of the monitoring report indicate the successful
establishment of CPCs in most schools in the SDO of Cotabato. The initiative has helped
strengthen child protection in schools, and the majority of schools have initiated child
protection policies and practices. However, continued support and resources are
necessary to establish CPCs in all schools and sustain the success of this initiative.
Encouraging active parent participation is also essential to ensure the long-term success
of CPCs.
