I. Objectives  Improve learners’ vocabulary
 Read a variety of reading materials orally and silently
 Develop learners’ understanding and comprehension of the materials read
 Selection: Maria Makilang, the Fairy of the Mountain
 Reference: DO Memorandum No. 001 s 2024
II. Subject Matter
 Materials: strips of paper with words, powerpoint presentation, reading materials,
pictures
III.Procedures
A. Pre-Reading Activities  Let the students sing a song about Reading.

 Game- Word Relay
Students will be grouped into 4. Strips of paper with written words are on the floor.
The students will get the word that the teacher will say. The first group who gets
the word correctly gets the point.
 After the game, the words will be posted on the board. Students will give their own
meaning.
B. During Reading  Reading Time- Selection “Mariang Makiling, the Fairy of the Mountain”.
 Silent Reading- Students will read the story silently. Five minutes will be given to
them to read.
 Oral reading- Students will read the story aloud, individually and by group.
C. Post-Reading  Comprehension Check Up- Students will answer questions about the story.
 Jumble Sentence Game- Students will be given jumbled words to arrange. The first
group who post the correct sentence will be the winner.
 Story Sequencing- Let the students arrange the sequence based on the story.
 Poster Making- Students will make their own poster – on the moral lesson of the
story or their favorite part of the lesson of Maria Makiling.
