1.1 Introduction to Android, Open Handset Alliance, Android Ecosystem


Open Handset Alliance
 Open Handset Alliance (OHA) was formed in November 2007. It was created by Google.
 The OHA is the group that is in charge of the Android smartphone operating system.
 The OHA is the business alliance that consists of 47 companies (like google, HTC, LG Electronics,
Motorola, Samsung Electronics, T-Mobile and so on) for developing open standard platform for
mobile devices.
 The members of OHA include handset manufactures, chip makers, commercialization
companies, software companies and mobile operators.
 The primary objective of these companies is to develop open standards for mobile devices.
 The goal of Open Handset Alliance (OHA) is to create mobility without borders or walls where
mobiles devices and mobile applications all work together to achieve a single goal i.e. providing
users with the services and applications that they want and need.
