ONE ACT PLAY CHARACTER REFLECTION

Our director and playwright cast me as one of the main characters in this one-act
play, and my stage name is Lorraine. We had many difficulties while preparing and
rehearsing our play, but I am grateful that we had fun working together to make our
performance successful. In this play, I also discovered that it is best for us to be a single
group as a section for our performance task because competition cannot be avoided
every time that we are divided into several groups. I observed the camaraderie here,
and I can say that this play would not have been accomplished without it.
In addition, this is the most memorable Performance in terms of acting that I’ve
done in my grade 11 journey. Why? Due to my extensive experience here, particularly
with my role as Lorraine. First of all, being that our quizzes and activities were
happening at the same time made it difficult for me to first memorize my lines. Second,
during our practice, when I was about to lie down in one scene, I lay down in the place
where some candy fell and melted on the floor and it stuck to my pants. Thirdly, as we
were practicing again, my partner unintentionally hit my lower lip, which resulted in
some bleeding but I didn't say it right away and we kept going to the scene. Fourth, just
one day before our dry run, we went overtime in finalizing our play and here my
slipper were damaged because of my scene that I would be pushed back, with this I
went home with damaged slipper. Lastly, during our dry run, when I was supposed to
lie down, my neck got bumped on the corner of the chair, which gets me hurt and feel
dizzy. Of all the experiences I've had in this play, I have no regrets because all of them
have been helpful for our performance.
And with the outcome of our final performance, I can say that all our hard work
and every effort that each of us gave for this play was worth it. In this play, I not only
learned how to be more patient, but I also proved that working together makes things
easier. Above all, we should put more effort in everything we do knowing that it will
benefit us in the end.
