FLEXIBLE LEARNING CONTRACT

In response to the latest situation of the COVID-19 infection in the country and cancellation of in-
person classes, the College of Information and Technology Education will be utilizing an alternative method
to centralize and simplify the administration and management of teaching and learning through e-Learning.
This system covers the entire process of distance learning to help instructors and students to plan their
learning processes, and work together, through the exchange of knowledge and information.

The intent of this contract is to outline the standards and behaviours that are expected of the
participating students.

Student Expectations
1. Adhere to the code of conduct of the university and behave with integrity and honesty while participating
in the online class.

2. Inform my parents or guardians about this online learning methodology and that it is home-based.

3. Participate in each activity per day per classroom subject and clinical duty/skills laboratory to maintain
pace.

4. Complete the uploaded activities on time. The following rubric will be used to grade the outputs:
Criteria Percentage (%)
CORRECTNESS
(Submits outputs in which the content indicates accuracy, synthesis of ideas, in-depth
40%
analysis. There is evidence of original thought and support for the topic with correct
grammar, tone, spelling and punctuation)
TIMELINESS
20%
(Meets the deadline set for the activity)
VALIDITY
(Uses sources to support, extend, and inform, but does not substitute writer’s own 20%
development of idea by providing proper citations)
ACTIVE PARTICIPATION
(Participates in the discussions, asks questions, and responds to all aspects of the 20%
activity)
Total 100%

5. Communicate with my instructor in a professional and respectful manner.

6. Ensure that I have the means to access the online activities on my own at all times. If in case of failure to
access the provided activities, I must inform my instructor.

7. Seek help from the online instructor or course provider as needed.

8. Abide by the given “office hours” and time limits by my instructor.

9. Exhibit Netiquette, a social code that defines “good” online behaviour which is something I keep in mind
during my online course interactions.
The following points apply to all types of online communication:
✔ Treat my instructor and classmates with respect.

✔ Make my messages concise.

✔ I will be professional and courteous.

✔ I will remember that all college level communication should have correct spelling and
grammar.
✔ I will not use all capitals in my subject line or in my message unless I want to emphasize
something. It is considered the equivalent of SHOUTING. If I want to make a point, I will
try using *asterisks* or _underscore_ around the word or phrase I want to stress.
✔ Ask the original author's permission before forwarding his or her message to someone else.

✔ Credit the ideas of others through proper citing and linking to scholarly resources.

✔ Be careful with humor and sarcasm. Without the benefit of body language or vocal
inflection, my words can be easily misinterpreted.
✔ Use acronyms sparingly (for example: IMHO = in my humble opinion, BTW = by the way),
as some readers may not know what they mean.
✔ Never give anyone else my login identification or password.

✔ Remember that new users may make mistakes. I will be patient.

✔ Ask my instructor/classmate’s permission when I want to record or to take a screenshot our

online activities.

10. Bear in mind the provisions of the Republic Act No. 10173 or Data Privacy Act of 2012
(https://www.privacy.gov.ph/wp-content/uploads/DPA-of-2012.pdf) and Republic Act No. 10175 or

Students fully acknowledge that success is largely dependent upon the work and effort they put forth.
Students who are not successful may fall off pace to pass the subject or clinical duty/skills laboratory and may
have to pursue means to make up credits.
