FRESH WATER DISTILLER.

GENERAL STARTING-UP PROCEDURE.

Please carry out the following procedure:

TESTING:

- Make sure, that the Freshwater pump is filled with water.

- Close the feed water valve. Close the fresh water outlet valve.
- Open the seawater over board valve.
- Evt. Disconnect the Freshwater line after the FWD for dumping Testing Freshwater.
- Disconnect the electrical wire on the Freshwater solinoid valve.

1. Turn on the main switch on the operation panel and start up the seawater pump. Now the vacuum
will be established. Check that 95% vacuum is obtained in 10 to 15 minutes.

2. Stop the seawater pump. Now the vacuum shall maintain constant or drop off at max. 3-4% in 30
minutes.

3. Start up the seawater pump.

4. Open the feed water valve. Now notice the feed water level in the sight glass. The level shall be
visible and constant in the upper half of the sight glass.

5. When this is ok. Switch on the heating water.

6. Look at the level indicating tube on the side of the freshwater bleeding tank. When the fresh
water level is visible.

7. Turn on the freshwater pump.

Now the freshwater pressure gauge will show the pump pressure (2-3bar).

8. Open slowly the freshwater outlet valve. The pressure will now decrease. Stop opening the
valve at a pressure at 1-1.5 bar.
Now the freshwater production is running.

9. Have a look at the sight glass and readjust the Feed water valve at a level visible in the upper
part of the glass. The feed water valve should be opened totally during production and the capacity
of feed water should be regulated by the dimension of the feed water nozzle.

Now the test is over.

Please carry out the following for operating the FWD:

- Connect the fresh water line. (If disconnected)
- Connect the electrical wire for the solinoid valve.
- Adjust the Salinometer set-point for salt content (Normally 10 ppm ).

Now carry out point 1- 9 for production of freshwater.

As long as the actual fresh water salt content is higher than the set-point ( 10 ppm ) the freshwater
is dumped out through the solinoid valve.

The following technical values must be maintained in order to produce freshwater:

Heating water: Temperature Drop between inlet and outlet from evaporator: Max. 12-15 degC.
10 m3/h

Seawater: Temperature max. 32 degC

Pressure before the ejector: Min. 3-3.5 bar

Pressure after ejector: Max. 0.6 bar

Please go through carefully the above mentioned points, and the freshwater production will
be o.k.
