Singular nouns: It’s a key. It’s an identity card.
Plural nouns: They’re keys. They’re identity cards.
• When there is more than one of something, we use -s to make a plural noun.
• When there are two words, we use -s with the second word.
• There are plural nouns that don’t change: sunglasses, jeans, scissors.

Possessive ‘s
• We use ‘s to show that something belongs to someone.
For example: It’s Harry Potter’s snitch. (the snitch belongs to Harry)

• We use ‘s with family members.
For example: John is Nick’s brother. I’m Paul’s wife.
• We use ‘s with personal information.

The British Museum has a very big library. There is a copy of every book in the English language, so
there are more than six million books there. They get about two thousand books and papers every
day.
The British Museum Library has a very big collection of printed books and manuscripts, both old and
new. There are some glass cases with manuscripts.
There are also the very first English books there. They were printed by William Caxton. Caxton was
a printer who lived in the fifteenth century. He was the person who made the first printing-press in
England.
There is a reading room in the British Museum. There are many famous people who read books and
studied there. For example, Charles Dickens, a very popular English writer and the author of ‘David
Copperfield’, ‘Oliver Twist’, ‘Dombey and Son’ and other books. You can come and spend a lot of time
