This procedure infuses the brain with potent magic, enhancing its psychic abilities. Encased in a transparent helm filled with a special sustaining liquid, these brains become the core of Cerenome beings. This unique creation process results in a race known for their profound mental capabilities, telepathic communication, and insights into arcane mysteries. Ability Score Increase. Your Intelligence score increases by 2, and your Wisdom score increases by 1. Age. Cerenomes experience the passage of time differently due to their unique nature. The bodies they inhabit can last anywhere from 140 to 200 years before succumbing to decay, even under the Cerenome’s influence. A Cerenome’s brain, when properly preserved, can potentially live indefinitely. Alignment. Cerenomes are usually good-aligned, valuing knowledge and enlightenment. However, if a Cerenome’s brain is attached to a corpse that was previously of evil alignment, it may influence the Cerenome’s personality and alignment. JAF Dragonsandstories | Patreon | Art: a1 SG Size. The size of a Cerenome can vary from Small to Medium, depending on the size of the corpse to which it is attached. Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet. Blindsight. Cerenomes possess blindsight within a radius of 60 feet. If the glass container encasing a Cerenome’'s brain is blocked or covered, the Cerenome is effectively blinded, regardless of any other abilities or effects that would normally allow sight. Telepathic Communication. You can communicate telepathically with any creature within 60 feet of you that knows at least one language. Psionic Abilities. You know the mage hand cantrip. At 3rd level, you can cast the detect thoughts spell once and regain the ability to do so when you finish a long rest. At 5th level, you can cast the telekinesis spell once and regain the ability to do so when you finish a long rest. Intelligence is your spellcasting ability for these spells. Cerebral Sustenance. Upon death, if your brain is intact, it must be placed in a container with water or a random non-harmful liquid within 1 minute to preserve it. The preserved brain can survive for up to 10 minutes outside its original body. If your preserved brain is placed onto a headless corpse within these 10 minutes, the corpse undergoes a transformation over the following 10 days, where the neck area morphs into a glass container filled with the liquid used for preservation. After this period, you are resurrected with all conditions as per the effects of the revivify spell. The glass container fully integrates with the corpse, becoming the new encasement for the brain. Brain Exposure Risk. The unique physiology of Cerenomes exposes them to a particular risk in critical conditions. When a Cerenome is unconscious and making death saving throws, another creature can take a melee attack action to specifically target the Cerenome’s exposed brain. If this attack hits, it is considered a critical hit, and the Cerenome fails its death saving throws instantly, resulting in immediate death. Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and one other language of your choice.
