ORIGIN: Epicranial aponeurosis.
INSERTION: Skin of the eyebrow and the

forehead.
ACTION: Elevates the eyebrow, wrinkles

the skin of the forehead and moves the
scalp anteriorly.
NERVE SUPPLY: Facial nerve (CN VII)

temporal branche.
ARTERIAL SUPPLY: Supraorbital and

supratrochlear arteries.

occipital bone.

INSERTION: Skin and subcutaneous

tissue under the eyebrow.
ACTION: Pulls the eyebrow and skin

above the eye downwards.
NERVE SUPPLY: Facial nerve (CN VII).
ARTERIAL SUPPLY: Supraorbital artery

and, supratrochlear artery


ORIGIN: Medial end of the supercillary
arch.
INSERTION: Skin of the medial half of the

eyebrow.
ACTION: Pulls the eyebrows downward

and medially.
