HORMONAL CONTROL TASK

The hypothalamus begins to The anterior pituitary releases

enhance its generation of follicle- luteinizing hormone (LH) and
stimulating hormone testosterone follicle-stimulating hormone
at eight (GnRH). (FSH) in response to GnRH (FSH).

LH and FSH stimulate

testosterone production in the
testes and estrogen in the
ovaries.

Round is a

LH and FSH stimulate
testosterone production in the
testes and estrogen in the
ovaries.
The release of sex hormones has the following effects:
- Testosterone Production (Male Secondary Sex Characteristics)
Both the penis and the scrotum develop.
Hair and facial hair grow.
The larynx lengthens, reducing the voice.
Shoulders enlarge
Hair grows on the body, armpits, and pubic area.
The body's musculature grows.
The release of sex hormones has the following effects:
Estrogen Production (Female Secondary Sex Characteristics)
Breasts grow and mature with time.
Hips enlarge
Hair on the pubic area grows.
FSH increases egg cells, known as ova, in females that originate
in follicles. Follicle cells secrete the hormone block, which
prevents FSH from being produced. LH is also involved in ovarian
growth, ovulation initiation, and promoting estradiol and
progesterone generation by the ovary

The hypothalamus and pituitary are vulnerable to

testosterone and estrogen negative feedback signals
before puberty. The hypothalamus and pituitary's
sensitivity to negative feedback falls to levels
observed in adults during puberty. This alteration
allows an increase in testosterone and estrogen
production, which accelerates the formation of
secondary sex characteristics.
