topic so the game will be called Guess the word, if gusto niyo mag answer you can click ta raise
3rd word- ENVIRONMENT LITERACY, ECOLOGICAL LITERACY, AND ECOLITERACY
Okay congrats sa mga naka answer no, so mao lang to kadali among dula and naka score namo..
so naa pay mo sunod no so be participative everyone saying points!!
Now lets proceed sa atung discussion!

OBJECTIVES- TO BE READ BY ORTEGA

ECOLOGICAL LITERACY
ECOLOGICAL LITERACY - Ecological literacy (also referred to as ecoliteracy) is the ability to
understand the natural systems that make life on earth possible. To be ecoliterate means
understanding the principles of organization of ecological communities (i.e. ecosystems) and
using those principles for creating sustainable human communities. -----( so ang eco literacy daw
is reffered sa ecoliteracy which means is to understand the natural system nga naga hatag ug life
sa earth. To be ecoliterate daw you need to understand the principles sa organization sa
ecological community or a group of species that are commonly found together and also gamiton
pud to sa mga people ang mga priciples na to for creating sustainable human communities….

Lets proceed sa akoang part no!

The development of ecological understanding is not simply another subject to be learnt but a
fundamental change in the way we see the world.--- ( So ang development of ecological
naga puyo niini no like that.)

We are now at a critical point with many environmental issues such as climate change and
rampant environmental destruction. --- ( We all know naman that our world gid is naa sa critical
and also ang rampant environmental destruction like overpopulation, pollution, burning fossil
fuels, and deforestation. nga daghan kayo nga country ang naka sinati ani nga problem ) ----
Alienation from nature greatly contributes to the aggravation of these environmental problems.
----Ecological literacy is important to business and political
leaders, and to all levels of education.
Kasi it helps them or
us in our daily life or in our work in life

Ecological literacy refers to an individual's understanding not only of ecological concepts, but
also of his or her place in the ecosystem (Meena & Alison, 2009). ------(So ana diri no nga di
lang for ecological concept ang Ecological literacy but also sa isa ka place sa isa ka person sa
iyahang eco system ang gina namean diri is dili lang ga refer and ecological literacy sa mga
ecological concept but also sa isa ka place nga gina puy-an or kung asa naga stay ang isa ka tao)
---------
The term ecological literacy was first introduced by David Orr in 1989 in his essay "Ecological
Literacy." He indicated that knowing, caring, and practical competence form the foundation for
ecological literacy. He pointed out that the root of environmental crisis is the individual's
inability to think about "ecological patterns, systems of causation, and long-term effects of
human actions" (Orr, 1994). Thus, he emphasized the importance of experience in one's natural
environment that can enable humans to shift perspective from one of an economic emphasis to
one of balance amongst economics, ecology, and cultures.
---- ( David Orr is one who introduce the ecological literacy, David Orr first introduced the term
“ecological literacy” in 1989. In his writings, David Orr claims that the U.S. is in ecological
crisis and that this stems from a crisis of education. (So first noe is sa iyang country lang niya gi
introduce ang ecological literacy for them to know that they are in crisis sa ilang education in
there country)-. In an essay titled Ecological Literacy, David Orr states that environmental
education should change kung paano mamuhi or mamuhay ang mga tao, and if the
environmental education is lead toward sa sustainable lifestyle, then competence, which only
happens by doing, will come with it. Therefore, identifying school students' ecological literacy
levels is a necessary step to investigate their behavior, attitudes, sensitivity, and behavioral
intention. So mao na ang noe si david or rang first nka introduce sa ecological literacy.)----

In order to create awareness among students, it is important to foster correct knowledge to ensure
positive approach to the environment (Hares, Eskonheimo, Myllytaus, & Luukkanen, 2006). ( So
to give awareness sa mga srudents daw no, it’s important na tagaan ug pansin or mas tagaan ug
Kahyaoglu (2009) also stated that positive attitudes and values toward the environment are
occurred with a good knowledge. Developing environmentally responsible behavior requires
correct knowledge about climate change, the cause of global warming, carbon emissions, and
carbon footprint (Kuo & Chen, 2009). (Being positive towards attitude and values toward the
environment can give someone a good knowledge or positive knowledge in life noe,
environmental attitudes are based on human benefits or human goals so kita ra japun manimulos
sa tanan. and Protecting the environment is important because of the long-term consequences it
may have on other people, we all know naman the consequence sa all diba if pabaya ka sa
environment it can cause sa pag lala sa global warming, carbon emissions, and carbon footprint.

The current literature on ecological literacy emphasizes the role of scientific knowledge and
ecological thinking in identifying cause-effect relationships in socio-environmental systems, in
order to allow more enlightened decision-making; therefore, its primary pedagogical goals are
cognitive and experimental. –( The current literature on ecological literacy ay binibigyang-diin
nagbibigay-malay at eksperimental.)

In this, it differs from the broader concept of environmental literacy, which incorporates civic
literacy that pertains to changes in values and behaviors, and thus also contains affective and
contains the affective and moral nga layunin sa pagtudlo.

Ecological literacy is meant to enable conscious and participant citizens to make informed
decisions or take action on environmental issues (Jordan et al. 2009). ---- so ana si Jordan noe
nga ang ecological literacy daw is meant to give importance to make participant citizens nga
informed sa mga decisions or mag take action sa environmental issues nga ginakaharap sa earth
such as climate change, pollution, environmental degradation, and resource depletion.,
Efforts in this direction include books by experienced ecologists for the general public, of which
two outstanding examples are Levin (2000) and Slobodkin (2003). ( so naa daw mga book nga
maka help sa atoa nga mga tao nga mag growth pa ang knowledge of the interdependence
between people and nature that is vital for food production, maintaining clean air and also water,
and sustaining biodiversity in a changing climate…outstanding exampleis ang kela Levin (2000)
and Slobodkin (2003).

Characterizing an Ecoliterate Person

Dr. Tom Puk (2002) of Lakehead University characterized an ecologically literate person of the
21st century as "the responsible, lifelong learner who strives to improve the human condition and
the environment within the context of self, human groups, the biosphere, and the ecosphere." The
ecologically literate person in order to achieve the aforementioned ultimate goal should become
(The ecologically literate person daw sa 21st century will be considered as mga responsible nga
environment within the context of self, sa human groups, and also sa biosphere and the
ecosphere. So this person find kung unsa ba jud ang purpose ug meaning sa iyahang life by ano
ahmmm sa padayun nga kumbaga pagpangandoy sa iyahang balanced growth, sa iyahang
cognitive, affective, psychomotor, reflective, intuitive, aesthetic, social, creative and spiritual
capabilities, kumbaga growth sa iyahang kaya buhaton. So the development sa mga qualities na
ni is will be conducted sa pagpanganduy ug makabuluhan nga gawain sa life.)

-an inquirer, who actively secures the basic skills and knowledge in order to carry out ecological
responsibilities. This also enables her to reach her own potential and place in the physical and
natural environment;
-a reflective learner, who understands the value and limitations of human knowledge, the power
and limitations of the natural world, the role of intuition in real life pursuits, and the role of self
as it is manifested in one's personal narrative;
-intelligently self-directed, who engages in self-appraisal, sets new learning objectives, develops
plan to achieve those objectives, carries out those plans in a flexible inquiry-directed manner, and
reflects on the whole process;
-morally responsible, who governs actions with precepts (responsibility, seeking justice and
equality for all) that maintain harmonious relationships:
-ecologically responsible, who embodies ecological ideals in daily life; and
-seek self-transcendence, who moves beyond the limitations of personal ego by identifying with
human groups (past and future), flora and fauna, ecosphere, that transcend the individual life in
scope and time.
-The ecologically literate person of the 21st century has a positive view of life, grounded in the
faith of interconnectedness, and has the capacity to competently perform significant life work
and related tasks. Such a view enables her to look upon the human experience positively and all
living things compassionately.
