HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

BA 5 CASE ANALYSIS

Case 1: HR

In one year, in the quality control department of a non-unionized pharmaceutical company, five good
chemists and pharmacists resigned citing as reason in their exit interviews the higher handedness of
their Manager. If you were the HR manager what would you do?

As an HR manager it is important to stay unbiased and objective when handling this kind of situation
before making any judgement on the matter. It is important to make both parties involved and have
their sides be heard so that it will become easier to decide what appropriate action to take in order to
address the issue. The employees complaints must be investigated thoroughly. If their complaints are
found to be valid. It is necessary to hold the manager in question accountable by penalizing them
through counseling or in worst cases terminating them for the job.

Case 2: CHANNELED RELATIONSHIP

I don’t think the Computer Company’s claims are reasonable in view of the fact that they were the ones
who decided that Isidro’s services are no longer needed. Although Isidro really was an employee under
Manpower but the fact that they were partners in the business makes them equally accountable for the
litigation. It is important to note that Isidro did not only sued them for illegally dismissing him but claims
about money as well. I think the Computer Company must participate in the investigation and should be
held liable alongside Manpower Inc.
