UNIT 6: SPORTS
LESSON 4: VOCABULARY AND LISTENING (PPP)
I. OBJECTIVES:
By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to:
1. Knowledge:
- Gain new words related to topic “Sports”.
- Understand specific information in a programme about the X Games.
- Practice listening skill.
2. Ability:
- Main skills: listening and speaking skills.
- Sub skills: reading and writing skills.
3. Quality:
- Students will gain more positive attitude towards reading activity in English.
- Students paticipate in classroom activities actively.
4. Competence:
- Students can use vocabulary items to talk about about Sports in the X Games. (for all students).
II. TEACHING AIDS AND LEARNING MATERIALS
Lesson plan, PPT slides, student’s book, workbook, notebook.
III. PROCEDURES:

ACTIVITY 1: WARM UP (3’) + BMX
Organization: + Skiing
1.1. Task Delivery: Students play mini game to review + Skateboard

previous lesson – Matching game.

1.2. Task Performance: + Snowboard
- Teacher divides class into 4 groups. + Mountain bike racing
- Teacher shows some pictures and some words + Ice climbing
related to sports on the screen. + Bungy jumping
- Asks students to match the names of sports with the
correct pictures.
- Check the answers with the class.
1.3. Discussion: Teacher read aloud the answers of the
first group and students from other groups give their
comments.
1.4. Conclusion: Teacher leads to the new lesson.
ACTIVITY 2: PRE - LISTENING (10’) New words:

3.2. Task Performance:
- Teacher asks Students to read the requirements of
Task 2 and Task 3 carefully before listening.
- Students listen to the audio twice each task.

ACTIVITY 4: POST LISTENING (20’)
Organization:
4.1. Task Delivery: Students complete the questions
with the correct form of the verbs in the box and work
in pairs to ask and answer questions.
4.2. Task Performance:
- Students work in pairs to ask and answer the questions
in Task 4.
4.3. Discussion: Students present their answers and
classmates give comments.
4.4. Conclusion: Teacher gives comments for
students’ performance and give bonus for them.
Homework (2’)
- Students write the meaning for the new words into their notebook and learn by heart all the
new words.
- Students do Workbook page 44 to consolidate the lesson at home.
