171. Use Tooling (S) to measure Dimension (D24) as shown in Illustration 143. Dimension (D24) is
the distance between the top surface of shaft assembly (35) that contacts the roller bearings of
the clutch assembly to the top of the flange surface of shaft assembly (35).
173. Use Tooling (S) to measure Dimension (D26) as shown in Illustration 144. Dimension (D26) is
the distance between the top surface of the housing for transmission (1) to the top surface of the
bottom of the housing for transmission (1).
174. Subtract Dimension (D26) from Dimension (D25) to obtain Dimension (D27). Dimension
(D27) is the end play for the clutch assembly without the thrust washers. Add thrust washers as
needed to obtain an end play of 0.10 to 0.30 mm (0.004 to 0.012 inch).

Tighten screw plugs (33) to a torque of 10 N·m (89 lb in). Tighten nuts (32) to a torque of
23 N·m (204 lb in).
183. Attach Tooling (AA) to clutch assembly (36) as shown in Illustration 154. Use Tooling (AA) to
verify the end play of clutch assembly (36) is 0.10 to 0.30 mm (0.004 to 0.012 inch).
184. Use Tooling (A) to position transmission (1) as shown in Illustration 155.
185. Attach Tooling (AB) and a suitable lifting device to pump assembly (27). The weight of pump
assembly (27) is approximately 36 kg (80 lb).
