Archer’s Winning Aim; Locks Bulldogs in Chain

De La Salle University (DLSU) claimed their win over the National

University (NU), 25-10,25-15,25-21, on the first round in the University Athletic
Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 85 Women’s Volleyball that took
place at the court of Araneta Coliseum last March 22.

A Strong Spike
Outside hitter Jolina Dela Cruz from DLSU saw a hole in the other side with
no one to come in defend to and released a strong spike that put the match on
end claiming their win against NU, 25-21.

Player of the Game

Fifi Sharma, middle blocker for DLSU lady spikers is one of the top scorers
who became an all-around player for her impressive offensive and defensive
tactics that defeated their opponent.

Game On
Outside hitter Angel Canino initiated the first point of her team against NU
with a spike from the court’s back side and made a tie with their rival, 1-1.

Lady Bulldog Eric Pangilinan then responded with a quick attack in order to
gain momentum, however this was the start that heats up the spirit of these
rookie Lady spikers of DLSU,2-1.
 NU did a float serve that was received by Canino, passed to the setter and
tossed to Fifi Sharma to make an attack that was blocked by lady bulldogs, the
block was received and lady spikers tried to spike once again but the libero of NU
was on eyes to the ball and dugged it, Robles did an attack from behind but
Nazareno, libero of DLSU was quick enough and dived, Dela Cruz then made a soft
dump, and the ball has finally touched the floor, 17-8.

Lady spikers’ defense has been impeccable and Lady Bulldogs found it hard to
recoup with Lady Spikers, the first set was then taken by DLSU with a dump of
Canino, 25-10.

Second set has started and the first two point is in favor of DLSU, NU
continues to attack and finally gained their first point from Belen’s long and sharp
attack, 2-1.

Robles from NU Lady Bulldogs was able to squeeze in through the DLSU’s
block with a powerful spike, opening the opportunity to break the consecutive
points of lady spikers, 8-4.

Belen of lady bulldogs went for a jump serve which was received by the
libero and Canino made an attack that was blocked by the strong walls of NU, it
was dugged by the libero of DLSU but wasn’t received well and went at the back,
however no player were present at the back court, which made them run for the
ball but wasn’t able to save it, this rally has then ended with NU getting the point,
12-19.

NU struggles to have a perfect first ball which led to a problematic play for
NU lady bulldogs, this became a favorable time to DLSU, the second set has come
to an end with Dela Cruz’s one on one block, making DLSU claim the second set,
25-15.
Animo’s Victorious Play

Last set has started with NU having the first point, for the second point NU
delivered a serve in the service line that was dugged by lady spikers, Fifi Sharma
then decided to do a setter’s dump but was defended by the libero of lady
bulldogs, the ball was then set to Nierva but unsuccessfully delivered an attack
because of Dela cruz’s solid block, 1-1.

DLSU is in the service line with Canino serving, the clean float serve was
received, then passed to the setter and did a setter’s dump, it was perfectly saved
by the quick reaction of the libero of lady spikers, Canino did a strong pipe attack
that was then dugged by the libero of lady bulldogs, and was passed over the net
by the good reaction of Turing, La Salle made an attack but Robles flawlessly
received the ball that was then passed to Belen to make an attack, DLSU then
made another attack but NU kept the ball alive and ended the long rally with
Belen’s clean and effortless offensive tactic, 6-7.

To recoup with lady spikers, Belen has once again went for an impressive
line shot and successfully made the ball through the blockers and gained a point
against DLSU, 8-9.

NU released powerful spike but Alba was there for a pickup, Canino on
the side made an aggressive shot that was saved but overdone and La Salle’s
Gagate has aimed to hit making them 4 points lead, 14-10.

21-24 is now the score, DLSU are on match point and is only one point
ahead from winning, Belen from NU Lady Bulldogs delivered a serve that was
done safely, the ball was tossed to Dela Cruz and spiked, opening the wall of the
blocker and aiming for a clean cross shot, finally the match against NU Lady
Bulldogs has been successfully claimed by the DLSU Lady Spiker, W 25-21, their
successful aims made it a victorious play.
