Disregard this article. See the article titled "Revised Starting Procedure For Engines Using
Kiene® Valves" in Engine News SEBD9251, Article 16, Page 21.
In order to use the following "Revised Starting Procedure For HFO Engines", the engine must be
equipped with 7E-2492 Valve Groups (Kiene Valves). The Reference Article and the Reference
provide information about the installation of Kiene Valves.

3. Turn the engine control switch from the "OFF/RESET" position to the "RUN" position. This will
start the prelube pump.
4. Once sufficient prelube pressure is indicated, momentarily turn the engine control switch to the
"START" position. This is done to roll the engine over.
5. Inspect all of the Kiene Valve outlets. If indications of fluids are present, record the cylinder
number and report the findings to the maintenance supervisor prior to further engine operation. If
there are no indications of fluids present, close and cap all Kiene Valves.
