Ref: Board's Policy letter of even no. dt. 07.06.18. ___ In supersession to earlier letters issued on the subject, following Policy guidelines for provision of escalators at railway stations are revised as under: 1.0 Policy for provision of escalators at railway stations. <= 1.1. Whenever any station is chosen for prevision of escalators, all its platforms should be covered with escalators. However, if there is any platform, whose usage is very less, such platform(s) can be skipped for provision of escalator. Deleting such Platform(s) shall lie within competence of GM/Zonal Railway who shall take this decision based on footfall on that particular platform. 1.2' All escalators to be preferably provided on same FOB, if more than 1 FOB is there. 1.3 Escalators be provided in the order of decreasing priority as follows: Public announcements by Hon'ble PM or Hon’ble MR. State Capital. Cities with population of more than 10 Lakh (ref: Website of Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs) - copy of these cities is placed at Annexure-I. Other Stations starting from highest footfall to lowest footfall, subject to minimurr foottall of 25,000 per day. v) Places of tourist importance, requests from Hon'ble Public representative/Parliamentary Committees (Only on approval of Hon'ble MR). 4 z 1.4: Once the:escalators as per the above priority are sanctioned and difficulties are observed in terms of feasibility, General Managers can change the location to ssome.other station. © * , 1.5.
