ABSTRACT

In India, a lot of improvement practices are of reinforced concrete structures, thusly plan of reinforced concrete
structures is one of the critical subjects considering employment a piece of Civil Designing understudies. With
extended fundamental arrangements it is essential to use PC programs for analysis and plan of structures. Various
business programs are available for plan of concrete structures; on the other hand they are exceptionally evaluated
and award restricted client permit. Each software program has inborn suspicions which should be surely seen sooner
than its execution in plan. It is dependably sensible to build up own ventures for plan of structures, as reliably
rehearsed in most arrangement firms, either by utilizing MS-Excel accounting page or some other PC programs. The
solitary bother with these programs is that they are exorbitant and are assuredly not adjustable/ versatile for
particular necessities. Python has been making as a most favored language for PC programming over various
vernaculars because of its straightforwardness in programming. Through this research we attempted to create our
own predictive software with the help of python programming libraries, which can predict the physical and micro
structural properties of concrete like compressive strength and Interfacial Transition Zone(ITZ).The overall
engineering properties of concrete in relation to the ITZ are beyond the scope of this research. However, ITZ and
compressive strength of the concrete incorporated with Recycled aggregate and Microsilica at various percentages
has been predicted precisely in this paper.

INTRODUCTION

To an ever increasing extent, the industry is recognizing that data assumes a significant part in construction. All things
considered, projects produce monstrous amounts of data, and just a little segment of it is being utilized to illuminate choices.
One method of utilizing data, nonetheless, is getting further developed and progressively open for both little and enormous
project workers: predictive construction investigation. Utilizing predictive examination can help decrease risk and improve
your dynamic cycle.

Python is an advanced open source programming language which is widely utilized by software engineers across the world
for different applications. It is accessible for free and can work effectively on PCs with least setup or configuration. Design
of reinforced concrete structure has been done utilizing different commercial software’s accessible on the lookout
furthermore; this has been acquainted in the scholastics with a certain degree too. Notwithstanding, these programming
projects are costly and it is not moderate for most organizations to buy in adequate number. Besides, utilization of these
promptly accessible programming projects does not improve learning angle as much as the understudies can get the yield
with only couple of snaps. Programming then again, can improve the learning of the understudies as they need to build up
the program for the tackling the issue with differentiated situations. The stepwise technique can assist with shaping the
algorithm for the program. From the programmers viewpoint it is generally simple to program for such cases as it has steady
method with variable input from the client what's more, checks from the standard tables, statements of the IS code.
Understudies are needed to design different primary components like, beams, slabs, columns, footings and so on for various
data sources of span, loading and support conditions.

Python has broad standard library and as it is an open source language, numerous helpful libraries are created for its use in
information science. Import capacity of the standard library of Python gives the adaptability to utilize these libraries in
programming. Some of the libraries which are extremely helpful from Civil Engineering angle are
• Scipy
• Numpy
• Pandas
• Matplotlib

Our predictive software tool uses the online open source libraries to predict the compressive strength and Interfacial
Transition zone (ITZ) of the concrete based on recycled aggregate and microsilica. The input data for the software has been
taken from the previous experimental research paper where the natural aggregate is replaced with 0%, 30% and 70% of
recycled aggregate and the cement is replaced with 0%, 10%, 20% of microsilica. In our research we have predicted the
compressive strength at 28 days with 15% microsilica replacement and the corresponding ITZ has also been predicted,
which was not done by the previous researchers.

OBSERVATION

Environmental protection, shortage of land for waste disposal, and increasing costs of waste treatment prior to disposal are
main reasons for increasing interest for the recycling of construction and demolition waste materials throughout the world.
The use of recycled concrete aggregates is encouraged due to following three reasons: conservation of natural resources,
minimization of overall construction cost, and reduction of pollution. Aggregates are produced by crushing and sieving of the
waste concrete is known as recycled aggregates and basically, recycled aggregates are of two types: recycled coarse aggregate
and recycled fine aggregate. The present work addresses the behavior of concrete using recycled coarse aggregates and Micro
silica (Silica Fume) to develop sustainable construction material.

The effect of silica fume on compressive strength and ITZ of concrete with replacement of natural aggregate with
recycled aggregate in different proportion was investigated under following observations:

Previous Mix Designation

New Mix Designation

Designation Percentage of Microsilica Percentage of Recycled Aggregate

AR1 0% 0
AR2 0% 0
AR3 0% 0
BR1 10% 30
BR2 10% 30
BR3 10% 30
CR1 20% 70
CR2 20% 70
CR2 20% 70

The characteristic compressive strength at 15% replacement of microsilica incorporated with 0%, 30% and 70% recycled
aggregate will give a more detailed and continuous idea of compressive strength curve which has not been done by the
previous researches and on the other hand the micro structural property ITZ will also be predicted for the same mix design

RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

Predicted Compressive Strength at 28 days and ITZ of Recycled Aggregates Concrete with 15% Microsilica

Compressive Strength Percentage Increase in Interfacial Transition

Concrete Mix at 28 days (N/mm²) Compressive Strength Zone
(Nanometer)
DR1 32.12 0 34.59 nm
DR2 32.34 0.07 34.81 nm
DR3 32.67 1.71 35.16 nm

The above predicted compressive strength of the concrete at 0%, 30%, 70% (DR1, DR2, DR3) Recycled Aggregate and
15% Microsilica shows a continuous increase in compressive strength with the increase in percentage of Recycled
Aggregate and the ITZ for the same has also been predicted precisely. The above results show that ITZ increases with the
increase of compressive strength in concrete.

The results of ITZ and Compressive strength at varied percentages of Recycled Aggregate and Microsilica which was not
determined or experimented by the previous researchers has been predicted in no time just by making some appropriate
changes in the design mix. This software tool can predict more results according to the data input and it gets more accurate
as we provide more date into it which definitely saves time, cost, work and many other testing aspects of the concrete work.

CONCLUSION

It is clear from the above results and tables that these tools can reduce issues, lower costs, and mitigate risk for construction
projects by making the work more predictable. As an example, consider the preconstruction process. One of the biggest
challenges for design teams during preconstruction is creating a realistic budget that can be applied to current and future
project stages. On the construction side, teams frequently find it hard to manage the budget they receive from a project’s
architecture or contractor teams. Predictive construction analytics allow preconstruction teams to create budgets that
account for all possible factors that could emerge during a project, including regional labor and material costs, among other
items.

The world is altering quick and dynamically due to many factors. Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, dominates all
branches of engineering and greater in Civil engineering. We need to be equipped for the subsequent massive task -

automation in the Civil engineering industry..Python has additionally made its utility in civil engineering for automation
duties like calculating bending moment, shear pressure ,reactions at supports, you can use IS 456:2000 or any codes books
as a module and can be used to refer whilst designing complicated troubles like evaluation of multi-storey buildings, lot
greater can be carried out the use of Python

Like many fields of engineering, Civil engineering also involve in data science applications. Python is the most popular
programming language in data science. The new graduates are experiencing the enhancement of Python Programming in
teaching-learning process. Implementation of Python programming in undergraduate design course will improve the
analytical skills of the students and have significant contribution to make them design industry ready professionals.
