‭Evidence Of Learning‬

‭ esearch is a significant component of your learning this year and should be an‬
R
‭enjoyable part of your learning because you are studying what you love. Each‬
‭assessment should reflect not only knowledge gained but insight and an evaluation of‬
‭how this added information affects your PCIS CAREER study.‬

S‭ imply summarizing information is not adequate for an assessment. Any summary‬

‭information should be very limited and typically should not exceed 3-4 sentences.‬
‭The important part of the assessment is the processing of this information and how it‬
‭affects you. Assessments that are simply summarizations will be returned and‬
‭resubmitted for a late grade.‬

‭ e sure to include the information listed below in the heading of your assessment:‬
B
‭Name:‬‭Hudson Simon‬
‭Date:‬‭11/29/23‬
‭Subject:‬‭MIT 8.04 Quantum Mechanics‬

‭This is a college course that I am taking through MIT OpenCourseware. This is a‬

‭service where all lectures, problem sets, and exams are published and free to use.‬

‭The course I am taking is in quantum mechanics, dealing with the basics principles‬

‭and intuitions of the guiding principles of the theory.‬

‭I believe that taking advantage of resources like this is super important--‬

‭creating free education resources is invaluable to those who may not be able to afford‬

‭higher education or even people like me who want to learn more things. I have been‬

‭taking notes on the lectures and doing each of the problem sets. This way I can‬

‭internalize and actually learn and understand as much of the material as I can.‬

‭The ideas in quantum mechanics are weird-- they defy most of the intuition‬

‭that is built throughout life. I have a surface level understanding of many of the‬

‭concepts in quantum mechanics, but a course like this helps me truly understand how‬

‭that fits into the world and more rigorously prove and predict things based on these‬
‭principles. Basic intuition is super important to understand a topic, but, in general, is‬

‭fairly useless when actually solving problems out empirically.‬
