Fill me up

DIRECTIONS: Below is the diagram showing the light phase reaction and Calvin cycle of photosynthesis
process. Complete the given table by filling up the missing terms/concepts. Answer the questions given.

Process Site of Reaction Requirements Products

1. Light reaction Thylakoid H2O, NADP+, ADP+P O2, ATP, NADPH
2. Calvin Cycle Stroma ATP, NADPH, CO2 Glucose, NADP+ADP
Answer what is asked:

1. How does light phase differ from Calvin cycle?

The reaction of the light-dependent phase take place in the thylakoid membrane, the reactions
of the Calvin cycle take place in the stroma. In the light-dependent reaction, water and light are
used to produce ATP, NADPH, and oxygen (O2). Meanwhile in Calvin cycle reaction, it uses
carbon dioxide to create glucose/sugar.

2. How does photosynthesis process benefit man, society and the

environment?
Photosynthesis that plants and trees use not only help us breathe by producing the oxygen we
need, but they also play a critical role in removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere,
reducing the negative effects that excessive carbon dioxide emissions can have on the
environment. With the oxygen that’s created by plants and trees because of photosynthesis and
the elimination of carbon dioxide because of plants and trees, it keeps the society alive and
ongoing.
