Title:

Commissioning of a 1.5MW Metered Rooftop Solar PV System for Integration into the National Grid
under Net Accounting Scheme

Introduction:
The successful commissioning of a 1.5MW Rooftop Solar PV System marks a significant milestone in
renewable energy integration into the national grid. The meticulous testing procedures carried out
ensure compliance with stringent standards and regulations, paving the way for seamless
synchronization with the grid under the Net Accounting Scheme.

Commissioning Tests:
The commissioning process involved a series of rigorous tests to verify the system's compatibility
with the national grid. These tests included:
1. Over and under voltage tests
2. Over and under frequency tests
3. Loss of Mains (ROCOF) test
4. Neutral Voltage Displacement (NVD) test
5. NVD VT Operation
6. Loss of phase
7. Loss of auxiliary supply (for fail-safe)
8. Low Voltage Ride Through (LVRT) test

Standards and Regulations: Adherence to relevant standards and regulations is paramount in

ensuring the reliability and safety of the system. The following standards were adhered to:
1. IEC 60947-1:2014
2. IEC 60947-2:2016
3. IEC 61727:2004
4. SLS 1522:2016
5. SLS 1547:2016

Equipment and Testing Tools:

The main control unit/relay of the system was the DEIF ML150, renowned for its comprehensive
functionality, protection features, and ease of use. Testing procedures were conducted using the
Megger SVERKER 900 relay and substation test system (provided by Amithi Power Consultants Pvt
Ltd.), ensuring thorough three-phase testing capabilities for renewable power generation stations.

Certifications and Verification:

In addition to commissioning tests, various certifications and verifications were meticulously verified,
including:
1. Type test report of CT/PT
2. Type test reports of the PV Inverters
3. Type test report of the main circuit breaker
4. System insulation test reports
5. Single Line Diagrams (SLD)

Conclusion:
With all test results falling within acceptable margins, the 1.5MW Rooftop Solar PV System is primed
for integration into the national grid. Its connection to the Wimalasurendra GSS Feeder#9 33kV
feeder under the Net Accounting scheme signifies a significant contribution to sustainable energy
generation and underscores the importance of rigorous testing and compliance with industry
standards in renewable energy projects.
