DRAIN-WASTE-VENT SYSTEM

WASTE WATERLINE SYSTEM


- Responsible for properly disposing wastewater towards its point of disposal
ex. septic tank & public sewer line
- Composed of 3 subsystem (for over-all function of waste waterline system, collectively work to properly discharge
waste waters)
1. DRAINAGE SYSTEM (discharge grey wastewater from sinks, lavatories, etc.)
2. WASTE COLLECTION SYSTEM (discharge black wastewater from water closets)
3. VENTILATION SYSTEM (ensures adequate air circulated in WWS, enough pressure generated to pull and push
wastewater to point of disposal)
- Also known as DWV System / Drain-Waste-Vent System
- Composed of essential components:
A. Drain/Floor Drain (discharge waste material)
B. Trap (prevent backflow of foul air)
C. Branch Pipes/Branch Line (any part of piping system aside from main, riser or stack, connected to fixtures to
discharge wastewater)
D. Stack (vertical main pipe extends to one or more stories, or to the roof)
E. Waste Pipe (wastewater/liquid waste free from fecal)
F. Soil Pipe (waste water with fecal)
G. Vent Pipe (pipe use for circulation of air & reliving negative pressure exerted on trap seals)
