Chapter 1: Institution profile and training outline

Bitar Consultants’ is a leading architectural and engineering consultancy practice based in

Jordan. The company was established in Amman in 1951 by the late architect Diran
Voskeritchian, then it was renamed to ‘Diran and Bitar Consultants’ when the late architect

the region, mixed-use buildings, cultural monuments, administration buildings, healthcare
facilities, educational institutions, residential & housing projects, heritage conservation &
urban regeneration projects, landscape, and interior architecture.

Operating mainly in Jordan and the Arab World with almost 100 architects and engineers of
all disciplines and working with various clients of local and international origins,
governmental and private entities - BC have designed projects in different contexts and
environments: most importantly, in significant world heritage sites such as Petra, Um Al-

Chapter 2: Practical Training

After study water code I do:

1. Design water system for ground floor in JAMILA BU AZZA school:

▪ determine the type of fixture units from appendix A, table A-4.
▪ determine the flow rate in pipes.
▪ pipe sizing
▪ distribution domestic water cabinets
▪ draw domestic hot and cold-water pipes and return pipes.
2. Design drainage system for JAMILLA BU AZZA school (internal connections)
▪ determine drainage pipe sizing.
▪ distribution floor drain and add FCO (floor clean out)
▪ add ventilation pipes for system.

After study ventilation code I do:

3. Design ventilation system for JAMILLA BU AZZA school

▪ determine type of activities and places
▪ determine amount of flow rate by area and number of persons in place
▪ using duct sizer program to determine duct size.
4. Calculate cooling and heating load for ground floor in IRAQ factory using HAP
program and for MULTIPROPOSE ROOM in JAMILA BU AZZA School.
5. Draw and design HVAC ducting system for MULTIPROPOSE ROOM in JAMILA
BU AZZA School depending on flow rate (L/s) taken from HAP report.
6. -Distribute Cassette unit and outdoor unit in JAMILA BU AZZA School
7. work on BUILDING MAJNOON OILFILED (KBR) that is (KBR provides
engineering and maintenance manpower and services in Iraq)
8. draw HVAC Refrigerant system (cassette unit, Ducted spilt unit, Indoor spilt unit)
9. work on outdoor drainage connection and calculate Manholes schedule for HAI AL
ZUHOUR school.

Chapter 3: Impact of Training

Describe the impact that training has on your knowledge and skills. Also, describe how the
training is related to your field of study.

During my internship at the engineering consulting company, the training I received had a
profound impact on both my knowledge and skills. The hands-on experience and exposure to
real-world projects allowed me to bridge the gap between theoretical concepts learned in the
classroom and their practical application in the field of engineering.

In terms of knowledge, the training enhanced my understanding of industry-specific

terminology, project management methodologies, and technical practices that are crucial in
the engineering sector. Through engaging with experienced professionals, I gained insights
into the practical challenges and solutions associated with complex engineering projects.

In addition to knowledge, the training significantly honed my technical skills. I had the
opportunity to work with cutting-edge software tools commonly used in the field, which
improved my proficiency in tasks such as Revit.

Collaborating with cross-functional teams exposed me to diverse perspectives and fostered

my communication and teamwork skills.
