In this exercise, you will compare two images (maximum 1900 characters with
spaces) related to the conception of astrology in the Middle Ages. The questions
below provide hints to guide you through the analysis. Try to answer them in
your exercise.

The first image features a blockbook made to give the nonspecialist reader the
sense that he or she is looking through the pages of a medieval astrological
book. You can find out more about this edition here and more information about
this topic on the website’s homepage: http://www.billyandcharlie.com/planets/.

Now, go back to the image. Look at the picture and read the text (you will find a
transcription following the link at the bottom of the page). What do the text and
the illustration refer to? (It is important that you try to briefly link the content of
the book with a certain conception of the power of stars). Which practice is this
book related to? Which kind of audience this book might have been addressed
to? Why? Is the text a technical or a literary piece? If you browse the whole book,
