Year 2 Visit

Year 2 visited Rochester Castle on Wednesday as part of their Towers, Tunnels and Turrets topic
this term.

The rain didn't dampen their spirits and the children caught the high-speed train from Gravesend
to Rochester. They were buzzing with excitement along the way.

Once there, the children climbed the narrow-stoned staircase that led them to The Chapel, The
Gallery and finally to the wall-walk. After all that climbing the class enjoyed fine views over the city
of Rochester and the surrounding area.

The children also visited the gift shop and applied their Maths skills to calculate the costs of their
souvenirs and handle money in coins.

Miss Dhillon and Mrs Kitsell were so proud of the way they represented Bronte School with their
excellent behaviour and manners. Well done to them all.

Eco-Fashion in Year 5
Year 5 spent an afternoon with their parents being eco-fashion designers. The children have been
exploring environmental issues through art, and this week they used recycled items to make
fashion statements. The afternoon finished with a cat-walk of their wonderful creations. Thank
you to all the parents who took part and made the afternoon so enjoyable.

An exciting visit for our Year 6 pupil…..

Jeevan had a ‘once in a lifetime’ opportunity to be a

mascot for his beloved Spurs. As a season ticket
holder, he is a regular feature at home games.

Jeevan got to meet the players, have a tour of the

ground and walk out before kick off.

Unfortunately, Tottenham Hotspur lost in a close

match to Wolves. Nonetheless, this did nothing to
dent an amazing day out! Jeevan really enjoyed
meeting all the players and getting his shirt signed.

Reception Class enjoyed another

visit to Forest school this week.

It was a VERY wet and muddy visit,

and we were all impressed with the
children’s resilience and joyful
approach to the activities.

Assembly
During our Celebration Assembly this morning, Amrita (Y5) was delighted to be presented with her
Headmistress’ Commendation for being an exemplary member of Bronte School. Mrs. Green and Mrs.
Lippard noted the ‘impeccable’ manners, ‘fantastic attitude’ and kindness that Amrita shows every day. In
particular, she has a resilient attitude to learning which means that she keeps trying - even when the task
is tough - and keeps challenging herself to improve.

Chloe and Ini proudly showed us their beautiful certificates in recognition of passing their Grade I violin
examination. We can’t wait to hear them play in future. Leo in Reception was awarded a certificate from
Mega Camps for being ‘a good sport’. Leo is a wonderful sportsman, and it is fantastic to see him
recognised for showing fairness when playing games. Abigail, Henry, Johnny, Jotham, Lucas and Tara were
handed Bronze Writing Awards for reaching their writing goals. It is fantastic to know that so many
children are carefully following the challenges put their way! Etta in Reception showed us a special badge
she received from ESF in recognition of her excellent skiing. Etta shared a video of herself skiing rather
quickly down a snowy mountain, It really was a ‘blink and you miss it’ moment!

Nelson won the house competition this week in a very tight race. Less than fifty points separated both
houses. Well done to everyone for all their efforts this week!

Year 4 visited St George’s Church as part of their RE topic, Christianity.

This term’s key question, ‘Is forgiveness always possible for Christians?’
was explored through an interesting discussion about Easter and the true
meaning of why many people celebrate this very important time. The
children thought carefully about what forgiveness is and why it is important
to forgive those that make mistakes.

Thank you to Emma Oliver for leading such an interesting session.

Year 3 have been rock detectives this week

finding out all about igneous, sedimentary
and metamorphic rocks. Mr Dickins showed
the children how rocks can be permeable
and impermeable. We looked at various
types of rock: chalk, sandstone, slate and
granite. It was fascinating to see what
chalk looks like under a microscope.
