1. This is the story of the most extraordinary child who did the most extraordinary things.

His name was

Nico.

2. Not everybody knew he could do anything.

3. Only his best friend, Rosie who was always having wild ideas, knew about his special quality.

4. One morning, just as the sun was rising, Rosie threw little pebbles up at his window.

5. "We're going to find the land of Dragons", whispered Rosie.

6. So they set off through the town.

7. When they got to the end of the street, they met a watchman who said, "Where are you two going?"

8. But before he could grab them, Rosie and Nico were sprinting away as fast as they could.

9. Nico was on his knees examining what he had discovered.

10. He brushed off the dust, and then lifted up the trap door, disappearing through it.

11. Nico was running down the stone steps that were slippery with slime and that smelt of graveyard,
that went deeper into the ground until it became pitch black.

12. His steps were echoing along the rock of the narrow passageway until all at once there was nothing,
and he was falling in the blackness!

13. He fell painfully and he lay there with not a single breath left in his body, for what seemed like the
whole winter, but was probably only a few seconds.

14. I'm going back, he said to himself, but he didn't.

15. He was still climbing some minutes later while thinking that it must be a tower.

16. But at that very moment, he saw a crack of light.

17. He stretched out his hand and found himself touching a handle which clicked softly in the dark.

18. A panel suddenly slid open and Nico stepped through into the most amazing room he had ever seen.
