To our research panels, a pleasant and glorious day.

I am the research leader, Roanne Mae Laxamana,

together with my group mates, Cindy Bitong, Angel Kate Pitas, and Wendell Hufana. We are here today
to present to you our research entitled “Identification of Areas for Improvement in the Knowledge and
Skills of Barangay Treasurers in Solano, Nueva Vizcaya on Treasury Operations”.

Here, we just put some of our review of related literature.

-Their research emphasizes the importance of local officials understanding their roles as public servants
and being aware of the challenges facing the community and local government administration. This
awareness can guide the identification of training needs.

- Here, study of Dagohoy (2021) revealed that delays in proposing annual budgets led to setbacks in the
approval of the Barangay Annual Budget (BAD). Some budget proposals contained typographical errors,
necessitating their return to the barangay administration. The Municipal Budget Office (MBO) also
observed that several yearly budget submissions from barangays lacked necessary documentation,
causing approval delays. These budgetary issues in barangays can hinder the efficiency and effectiveness
of local government operations, prohibiting the procurement of goods and services until the annual
budget for the fiscal year is approved. That’s why Dagohoy emphasizes the importance of effectively
managing barangay funds.

- The study also identified areas for improvement in the competencies of barangay treasurers.

- The study also identified the scarcity of evidence-based studies on barangay financing, which
makes it challenging to analyze the specific accounting knowledge and skills required for
treasury operations of barangay treasurers.
